In what has been a turbulent few weeks since the Budget, it was welcome to have the Minister Daniel Zeichner speak at the AIC conference today. It is clear that we have many challenges to the sector coming, in succession: sharp (Eng) delinked payment withdrawal in 2025, inheritance tax changes coming in 2026 and a Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism (CBAM) in 2027. We cannot pretend they will make things easy or more productive. However with a confirmed Land Use framework being announced soon, more announcements between now and Christmas, precision breeding being fully implemented in Q1 2025 and fewer trade barriers with the EU, there are more positive areas of policy, in a long road ahead.
