Culture of innovation in India has long been appreciated worldwide, with special acclaim to its predilection to "jugaad". This widely populated mix-and-match culture however exists mostly in-silos, without any interconnectedness between relevant stakeholders. With the vision of Viksit Bharat 2047, our recently published article discusses the urgent need of collaboration in the electronics domain between three societal pillars viz. academia, government and industry. The article further deliberates on how an agriculturally-dominant country like Taiwan became a semiconductor powerhouse through 1980s, as a case study. Consequentially, the necessity of job generation and investment in R&D towards realizing the ambitious goal of becoming a developed country has also been emphasized. The Research & Innovation, BITS Pilani team is excited to share a new publication by Prof. Manish Gupta and other author published in IEEE Transactions on Electron Devices. 🎉   𝐓𝐢𝐭le: Sub-60 mV/decade Dynamic Subthreshold Swing in Bulk Negative Capacitance Junctionless MOSFET.   Highlights: This work provides physical insights on the occurrence of dynamic sub-60 mV/decade switching in a negative capacitance (NC) junctionless (JL) transistor designed on a bulk substrate. Recognizing that the location of the conduction channel is a key factor governing the matching between ferroelectric and gate capacitances, we showcase the outperformance of bulk NCJL transistor compared to NCJL device designed on a silicon-on-insulator (SOI) substrate. Results highlight that NCJL transistors designed with relatively higher bulk doping can achieve better dynamic Sswing along with higher on-to-off current ratio. We also investigate the short channel performance comparison of bulk and SOI NCJL transistors. 🎯 The GATE Exam: A Game-Changer for Engineering Students from Tier 3 Colleges 🎯 Coming from a tier 3 engineering college, I understand the unique challenges many of us face in trying to stand out in a highly competitive field. But if there's one thing that my journey has taught me, it's the transformative power of the GATE exam. I graduated in 2023 with a degree in Electrical and Electronics Engineering. With just 1 month of serious preparation, I secured an All India Rank of 1291 in the GATE 2024 exam, specializing in Data Science and Artificial Intelligence. This result opened doors I never thought possible. After the results were out, I received multiple offers from prestigious institutions across India: IIT Jodhpur for MTech in Quantum Technology IIT Dhanbad for MTech in Power Electronics & Electrical Drives and Power System Engineering IIT Delhi for a 3-year MTech in Computer Technology (HVA) (Interview Call) IIT Bombay for MTech in Educational Technology (Interview Call) NIT Rourkela for MTech in Communication and Networks IIIT Lucknow for MTech in Computer Science NIT Durgapur for MTech in AI and Data Science NIT Nagpur for MTech in Computer Science and Engineering (which I eventually chose) IIIT Delhi for MTech in ECE with a specialization in Machine Learning (also cleared cutoffs for VLSI and Cyber-Physical Systems) Despite coming from an electrical background, I realized my passion lay elsewhere and chose to pursue Computer Science and Engineering at VNIT (NIT Nagpur). The GATE exam is more than just a qualification; it’s a gateway to opportunities that can redefine your career. Especially for those of us from tier 3 colleges, it can be the key to bridging the gap and accessing top-tier institutions and programs. To all aspiring engineers: Don’t underestimate the power of the GATE exam. It can open doors to paths you didn’t even know existed. Empowering India’s Semiconductor Future: IIT Bhubaneswar Launches Professional Diploma in Chip Design In a major step towards strengthening India’s semiconductor ecosystem, IIT Bhubaneswar has partnered with MOSart Labs to introduce a professional diploma program in semiconductor technology and chip design.
