Health Benefits: Packed with antioxidants and healthy monounsaturated fats, EVOO is a cornerstone of the Mediterranean diet, known for its heart-protective properties. It has been shown to reduce inflammation, improve cholesterol levels, and even support cognitive health. Versatility in the Kitchen: Whether you're drizzling it over a fresh salad, sautéing veggies, or finishing a dish with a splash of flavor, extra virgin olive oil enhances the taste of your food with a depth and complexity that other oils simply can't match. Sustainability: At Cobram Estate, our extra virgin olive oil is crafted with care, using sustainable farming practices that respect the environment. IS 'SEITAN' THE NEXT BIG THING IN PLANT-BASED!? 🥓🌱 Here's a brief history of the protein-packed meat alternative: 👉 Seitan traces its roots back to ancient China, where Buddhist monks, seeking plant-based alternatives to meat, experimented with wheat gluten as a protein source. 👉 As Buddhism spread to Japan, so did the tradition of using wheat gluten as a meat substitute. In Japan, it became known as "seitan" derived from the Japanese words "sei" meaning "made of" and "tan" meaning "protein." 👉 Over the centuries, Japanese chefs perfected the art of preparing seitan, developing various cooking techniques and flavoring methods to make it more palatable and versatile. 👉 Seitan became a staple ingredient in Japanese cuisine, particularly in vegetarian Buddhist temple cuisine known as "shojin ryori." It was also used in other Asian cuisines, such as Chinese and Korean, where it was valued for its texture and ability to absorb flavors. 👉 Seitan gained popularity in the West during the 20th century, particularly among vegetarians and vegans looking for meat alts. It was embraced for its high protein content and meat-like texture, making it a versatile ingredient in veggie cooking. 👉 In recent decades, the commercial production of seitan has expanded, with packaged seitan products becoming more widely available in health food stores and supermarkets. This has contributed to its increased popularity and integration into Western diets. 💥 It's BRILLIANT to see big players in plant-based like The Tofoo Co launch brand new seitan products into UK supermarkets! 💥 As conscious consumers are increasingly being motivated by health benefits and the sustainability of products and brands, this seems like a great move from a well established brand. We need to continue innovating and improving the taste, texture and formats of meat alternatives to win over meat-eaters. 🍗🌱 I believe brands can help grow the sector by tapping into these evolving consumer needs, as long as they can also deliver on taste and value at the same time! I'd love to hear your thoughts on this... Have you tried seitan yet? Will you give these a go? 🙋♂️👇 #plantprotein #plantbased #seitan

#snsinstitutions #snsdesignthinkers #designthinking Traditional food refers to dishes and culinary practices that are deeply rooted in the culture, history, and customs of a particular region or community. These foods are often passed down through generations and play a significant role in cultural identity and heritage. Here are some key aspects of traditional food: 1. **Cultural Significance**: Traditional foods often have cultural and symbolic meanings. They can be associated with religious practices, festivals, ceremonies, and everyday life. For instance, rice is a staple in many Asian cultures, while bread is fundamental in many Western diets. 2. **Local Ingredients**: Traditional dishes typically utilize ingredients that are locally available. This not only reflects the agricultural practices of a region but also influences the flavors and cooking methods. For example, Mediterranean cuisine uses olive oil, tomatoes, and fresh herbs, while Scandinavian dishes might feature fish, berries, and root vegetables. 3. **Cooking Methods**: Traditional foods are prepared using time-honored techniques that may include slow cooking, fermentation, smoking, or drying. These methods often enhance the flavor and preservation of food. For example, kimchi in Korea is made through fermentation, and Italian pasta is often made by hand. 4. **Health and Nutrition**: Many traditional diets are balanced and nutritious, incorporating a variety of food groups. The Mediterranean diet, for example, is known for its health benefits, including high consumption of vegetables, fruits, whole grains, and healthy fats. 5. **Regional Variations**: Traditional foods can vary widely even within a single country due to regional differences in climate, geography, and history. In India, for instance, northern cuisine often includes wheat-based bread like naan, while southern cuisine features rice and coconut prominently. 6. **Preservation of Heritage**: Traditional foods are a way of preserving cultural heritage and can offer a sense of continuity and identity for communities. They are often showcased in cultural festivals, family gatherings, and rituals. 7. **Adaptation and Evolution**: While traditional foods maintain their core identity, they can evolve and adapt over time due to globalization, migration, and technological advancements. This can lead to the creation of fusion dishes that combine elements from different culinary traditions. In essence, traditional food is a vital part of a community's cultural fabric, reflecting its history, environment, and way of life. It provides not only nourishment but also a connection to the past and a sense of belonging.
