MAICSA Extends Courtesy Visit to Yayasan Peneraju On 6 March 2024, MAICSA's leadership, led by President Mr. Simon Yeoh, met with Yayasan Peneraju CEO Ibrahim Sani to assess progress post-MOU signing last year. The discussion proved highly fruitful, with both parties reaching a consensus to persist in supporting eligible Bumiputera candidates in undertaking the Chartered Governance Qualifying Programme (CGQP). Attendees from MAICSA included Deputy President Dato' Akbar Moidunny, CEO Justin J Anthony, and Honorary Treasurer Assoc Prof. Noorbijan Abu Bakar. The shared objective is to encourage more Bumiputera candidates to undergo training and acquire qualifications as Chartered Secretaries and Chartered Governance Professionals. The discussion also emphasised the exploration of professionals with a strong ambition to enhance their governance skills. This strategic approach not only swiftly addresses the shortage of qualified Bumiputera governance professionals but also harnesses the potential of working adults for a rapid and impactful contribution to societal progress, particularly in the crucial realm of Governance - an integral component of ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance). #MAICSA #CorporateGovernance #GovernanceProfessional #CompanySecretary #CharteredSecretary #YayasanPeneraju #FutureLeaders #Bumiputera

Some initiatives are truly special, and our DFAT funded SKALA program is one of them. I’ve had the privilege of observing from the sidelines ever since this program started getting designed under the guidance of Australian Embassy, Indonesia's Astrid Kartika and Riri Silalahi. Now, as we approach SKALA's second anniversary, it’s not just up and running – it’s achieving incredible milestones under the leadership of Petrarca Karetji! Through collaboration with national and local governments, civil society, and the private sector, SKALA is making a real impact by addressing challenges and creating opportunities for all Indonesians. As a prime example of a locally led and owned initiative, SKALA focusses on strengthening selected elements of Indonesia’s large and complex decentralised governance systems while strengthening GEDSI mainstreaming into the system for inclusive development. Discover more about SKALA's mission, programs, and achievements on SKALA website: https://lnkd.in/gaxEbPkm A big shout out to the wonderful team members who make it all possible: Petrarca Karetji | Hannah D. | Theodore Weohau | Astrid Kartika | Atiq R. | Riri Silalahi | Megha Kapoor | Bethany Davies | Karrie McLaughlin | Jessica Nathalia Soeratman | Patrick M. On this week's weekly stories... Remembering Ananda Krishnan: A Visionary Who Transformed Malaysia Yesterday, Malaysia lost one of its most extraordinary minds. Ananda Krishnan, a business magnate, visionary entrepreneur, and remarkable philanthropist, passed away at the age of 86. From his humble beginnings in Brickfields, Kuala Lumpur, to becoming one of Malaysia’s wealthiest individuals and a pivotal contributor to our nation’s economy, Ananda Krishnan’s journey was nothing short of inspiring. With a sharp mind and an unwavering drive, he founded and led some of Malaysia’s most significant companies, including Maxis, MEASAT Satellite, and Tanjong Plc. But his impact went far beyond business. He helped establish PETRONAS, poured investment into Malaysia’s real estate sector, and even brought us closer to the stars by launching Malaysia’s first satellite, MEASAT-1, in 1996. His dedication to nation-building was unwavering, and his influence continues to shape Malaysia’s economic landscape. Ananda Krishnan wasn’t just a businessman; he was a dreamer who turned challenges into opportunities, a leader who elevated Malaysia onto the global stage. Today, as we mourn his passing, we also celebrate a legacy that will inspire generations to come. Thank you, Ananda Krishnan, for your immense contributions to Malaysia. Your vision, resilience, and generosity will forever be remembered. May you rest in peace. 📸 Image courtesy of Bernama. Copyright belongs to Bernama. Last week, I attended a Speaker Series organized by Perdana Fellows Alumni Association . The panel featured Tan Sri Azman Mokhtar, the former Managing Director of Khazanah Nasional Berhad I was deeply touched when he mentioned Kuala Kangsar as the place that shaped him, as it is also my hometown. Here are six key lessons I learned from him: 1. Attitude is Number 1 Always stay humble and maintain a positive attitude, even during challenging times. 2. Choose Experience Over High Pay While money is important, gaining valuable experience will benefit you more in the long run. 3. Discover Your Niche by Your 30s Understand yourself, realize your potential, and leverage it to benefit your company. 4. Be Ready to Take Risks Embrace challenges and be willing to take risks, trusting in Allah's provision. 5. Be Brave Enough to Make Mistakes Learn from your mistakes and think about how to handle them better in the future. 6. Always Take Pride in Your School The pride of your alma mater can be a great source of motivation, especially for alumni of MCKK. The most impactful words I learned from him were “Khidmat Kuberikan,” quoted from the MCKK anthem. Insha-Allah, I will take this advice to heart. I also quote the anthem of my schools: "The Ship is More than The Crew" (SMK Clifford) and "Bersama Memegang Teraju" (MRSM). #leadership #wisdom #networking #MRSM #SBP #khazanah #youth
