Dormant does not mean dead. Those are two very different things. Consider two tried-and-true methods to encourage spring lawn growth: Seed. And Feed. What do we mean? Overseeding - Overseeding is a fantastic lawncare therapy. Overseeding is planting seeds on the grass to fill in barren places and thicken your lawn. Aeration and overseeding help new seeds reach the soil. Fertilizing - Fertilizing complements aeration and seeding. It will provide you with a beautiful green lawn in short order when watered correctly. Fertilizer gives grass nutrients the soil doesn't provide. Pro Tip: Keep it simple and use a "starter" fertilizer mixture to promote optimal growth for new grass seeds. If you need landscaping assistance at one or more of your facilities, don't wait because time is literally of the essence. The clock is ticking. Summer heat will be here soon. All over the country, we have landscaping teams in every major city that can complete your projects on time and within budget. Both sod and seed can give you a full, healthy lawn, but they each require different care. Sod provides instant coverage and needs frequent watering at first to help roots establish. After that, it’s easier to maintain with regular mowing and occasional fertilizing. Seeding, on the other hand, requires a bit more patience—it can take anywhere from a few weeks to a few months, depending on the grass type and growing conditions, for a seeded lawn to fully fill in. Newly seeded areas need daily watering to encourage germination and growth, and they’re more sensitive to foot traffic during this period. While it takes time to achieve full coverage, seeding can be a great choice for those who don’t mind nurturing their lawn’s gradual growth. Both options need long-term care, like consistent watering, fertilizing, and general upkeep, to keep your lawn looking its best. #Whaledonesprinklersandirrigation #Newgrass #Sod #Callwhaledone #Dfw #Northtexas #Texas #Whaledone #Lawncare

As fall rolls in and temps start to drop, now’s the perfect time to get your lawn ready for those chilly Minnesota winters! ❄️ A little prep now will strengthen your grass’s roots and have it looking great when spring rolls around. 🌱 Aeration Aeration creates small holes in the soil, allowing air, water, and nutrients to penetrate the grass roots more easily. This promotes stronger root growth and better resistance to the harsh Minnesota winter. You can rent an aerator or hire a professional service. 🌱 Fall Fertilization After aeration, apply a slow-release fertilizer to nourish the grass. Fertilizing in October gives your lawn a nutrient boost that strengthens its root system before the first frost. Look for a fertilizer rich in nitrogen to promote green, thick growth in the spring. 🌱 Overseeding Lawn If your lawn has thin or patchy areas, overseeding can help fill in those gaps. Overseed after aeration to give new grass seed the best chance of taking root before winter. Choose a cool-season grass seed mix designed for Minnesota’s climate. 🌱 Rake Leaves While the colorful fall leaves are beautiful, they can smother your grass if left on the lawn for too long. Regularly raking fallen leaves ensures your grass gets the sunlight it needs to thrive. 🌱 Mowing Before First Frost Continue mowing your lawn until it stops growing. For the last mow of the season, cut the grass slightly shorter than usual—around 2 to 2.5 inches. This helps prevent snow mold and keeps your lawn healthy throughout the winter. Seeding and putting down our Master Blend Turf Mix soil in the fall is important for several key reasons related to lawn establishment and health: 1. Optimal Growing Conditions - Cooler temperatures: Fall typically offers cooler air temperatures but still warm soil, which is ideal for seed germination. The grass grows stronger roots without the stress of extreme heat. - Moisture availability: Fall often brings more rainfall, reducing the need for frequent watering and ensuring the seeds and soil stay moist for proper germination. 2. Better Root Establishment - Grass roots have more time to grow and establish themselves before the winter. A strong root system helps the grass survive the cold months and thrive in the spring. - Our Master Blend Turf Mix soil provides the necessary nutrients (combined with our Fall featured fertilizer) and structure to support root development, giving the grass a head start. 3. Reduced Weed Competition - Weeds are less active in the fall compared to spring and summer, so newly planted grass faces less competition. This makes it easier for the grass to grow and fill in any bare spots. 4. Healthier Lawn by Spring - Seeding in the fall allows grass to establish itself before winter dormancy, so it can come back stronger in the spring with thicker, healthier coverage. - The Master Blend Turf Mix soil helps maintain nutrient balance (combined with our featured fertilizer) and good soil texture, ensuring a better growing environment for the grass. By seeding and using our Master Blend Turf Mix soil in the fall, you give your lawn a much better chance to establish itself and flourish the following year.

Give your grass seed the best chance of successfully taking root ✨: 🌱 1 - Mark out the area where you want to establish your new lawn seed and decide if it’s necessary to apply any weed killer, or if the soil is clean enough to begin cultivation. 🧑🌾 2 - Decide how you will prepare your soil. Small areas can be done by hand but for larger areas it can be worth hiring in a rotavator. 🍃 3 - Decide if you want to apply a pre-seeding fertiliser. This will give your grass seed the best possible start. This can be forked in at this stage. 🪨 4 - Remove any large stones, and level the soil. Your goal is to achieve a seedbed with breadcrumb consistency. There are no large chunks, but the soil isn’t so fine that it no longer sticks together. 👞 5 - Before you sow your seed, it’s important to make sure that the seedbed is firm. Lightly roll or tread the area before sowing. ☀️ 6 - Get sowing! Top tip 🤫: We recommend preparing the seedbed once you have placed your order with Lawn UK. Then all you need to do is sow! #grassseed #seedbed #summerready #summergardendays #gardendays #summergarden #lawnuk #lawncare #lawnprofessionals #lawnmaintenance #grassmanagement #grassseeding

Is your grass looking a bit tired? Here are 6 tips for a luscious lawn: 🌱 Mow regularly: Mowing your lawn regularly is one of the most important things you can do to keep it looking its best. Be sure to mow at the proper height for your grass type - too short and you'll damage the grass, too tall and it will be more susceptible to weeds. 🌱 Fertilize: Fertilizing your lawn on a regular basis will help to ensure that it stays green and healthy. Be sure to choose a fertilizer that is appropriate for your grass type and apply it according to the manufacturer's instructions. 🌱Water deeply and infrequently: Watering your lawn deeply and infrequently is better for the grass than watering shallowly and more often. Deep watering encourages the roots to grow deep into the soil, making the grass more drought-resistant. 🌱 Aerate: Aerating your lawn helps to improve drainage and reduce compaction. Aeration also allows water, air, and nutrients to reach the roots of the grass more easily. 🌱 Overseed: Overseeding your lawn helps to thicken it up and make it less susceptible to weeds. Be sure to choose a grass seed that is appropriate for your climate and spread it evenly over the lawn. 🌱 Control weeds: Weeds can quickly take over a lawn if they are not controlled. Be sure to pull them up by the roots as soon as you see them so they don't have a chance to spread. #blairrealtygroup #lawncare #homeownership
