Ok. So, it's been 6 months or so since I posted about my leap from the corporate scene into full time music. Initially, I had a lot to learn so I jumped into vocal and song writing courses. I took on a vocal coach and I invested in learning the software and recording process. I then engaged gun-for-hire producer Michael Beinhorn to help with song arrangements and parts (he's done Chili Peppers, Soundgarden etc). He can tell me in minutes whether a song idea is worth pursuing and where to focus to make the most of the song and ensure that the emotion is communicated as intended. My work days have been in the writing and recording process, typically from 10AM 'til late. What a blessing to have this dedicated time! I'm a little hesitant in posting a music update but of course I will. 😎 It's just that most of you know me as a mild mannered and sensible advisory consultant and small business owner. You might expect my music to be somewhat conservative. Well it aint, by a long shot... 🤣 (although my older stuff on Spotify is somewhat soft) These tunes are Part 1 of an album called Feel Your Way. This is my journey from a young testosterone driven fella who joined the Navy at 18, all the way through to now. I have always been a rock guitarist. If it doesn't have a memorable (typically heavy) riff, it's not interesting for me to record. Note that these four songs are prototype products ;-} I'm putting out into production, more to show progress than anything, but I would love any feedback/observations. I'm not yet playing any of this live, so maybe imagine listening to this like it's an undiscovered band at your local favourite gig haunt. The drums are programmed at this stage but will be recorded acoustically in coming weeks. The vocals are rough and low in the mix while I'm working through the ideas - getting there but far from the finished product. I expect that I'll release to the streaming platforms in 6 to 8 weeks. Enjoy! Oh yeah, I've started to think about work stuff again too - some combination of AI and Advisory maybe... 🤔 https://lnkd.in/greHiW2t

I'm sure there are many more qualified audio peeps out there than me. But a couple things, for docs. One: while you're in the field, listen to your backgrounds, and be sure to record ambient sound and atmosphere. Don't forget. Seems like a minor thing until you hit an edit that pops hard because you didn't ramp up the background sound leading into it. Two: as you build tracks, leave long shoulders on the clips you intend to use, so the mixer can more seamlessly bring up the audio of the clip. In other words, if you want a smooth mix, give yourself the option of potting up rather than popping into the edits. Three: listen hard to your music level - don't let it fight and obscure narration or SOT. Too many people mix music too hot. Leave breathing spaces for music to play full in the open for dramatic effect, then pull it back down again as the story continues ...

**From Teacher to CEO: Creativity Meets Business** Last night at our monthly fire meeting, a fellow member mentioned how much he enjoyed seeing our posts and asked, "How do you come up with the ideas for the videos and music?" The answer is simple: All videos are shot on actual properties using my Google Pixel Pro 7. I save the footage until I need "content" for Facebook, posting every other day to stay relevant. As for the music, I start my day listening to a mix of genres—oldies, country, hip-hop, rock, metal, punk, and reggae. When it's time to edit, I pick a few tracks that might resonate with our audience and add them to the videos. While our videos may not have gone viral, each one allows me to be a "simple artist," blending video, text, and audio to showcase our services, share knowledge, or offer helpful tips. This process reminds me of my teaching days. As a STEAM educator, I encouraged students to listen to music, sketch, or read when focusing on a task. Some might disagree with this approach, but whether in the classroom or the boardroom, my priority is the same: ensuring the work is done to the best of our ability and delivered with quality by the deadline. #Entrepreneurship #CreativityInBusiness #TeacherToCEO #ContentCreation #BusinessGrowth
