I spent some time this morning talking with Cris Oviedo about MakingChange, Inc and financial wellness. The question that has stayed with me all day is "at what age should we start talking about finances with our children?" My answer is and will remain that we should talk with our children at all ages! There are so many resources available from kindergarten through adulthood that we don't have to wait or "protect" our children from learning how to handle money. By starting this practice early and openly discussing money with your children, you are giving them the invaluable benefit and experience to help them stay on the right track to be financially responsible and self-sufficient.
