Is all-inclusive the new exclusive? Forget wilted buffets and bottomless drinks. The new all-inclusive resorts serve up meals by Michelin-star chefs, activities with sporting legends and, in the case of Ikos, a Tesla car you can take out for the day. For today’s luxury traveller, going all-inclusive doesn’t mean sacrificing personalised service, unique experiences or impressive facilities. And guests certainly don’t expect to stay ‘on resort’ the whole time. They’d quite like cultural encounters and experiences included too please. Brands leading the way in this new approach to all-inclusive are focusing on slick design and offering multiple dining experiences, dreamy pools, wellness sessions and impressive kids’ clubs, all as standard. I’ve been working with Ikos Resorts for six years, as it has expanded to become a leader in luxury Mediterranean family holidays, adding experiences such as dining at local restaurants and tickets to nearby cultural sites to its all-inclusive offering. Secrets Resorts – now part of Hyatt – has been making waves with stunning adults-only retreats, including everything from cookery classes to water sports, while TRS has brought its Caribbean contemporary cool to Ibiza, with trendy restaurants and tickets to local party spots included. Something must be working, because 40 per cent of consumers associate all-inclusive with luxury, according to British Airways. And as more hotels and resorts vie for their share of the market, you can expect to see more headline-grabbing experiences offered as standard. Think unlimited scuba diving at Kudadoo in the Maldives, turtle-hatching experiences at Jumby Bay Island in Antigua and meals completely tailored to your whim at Naviva, on Mexico’s Nayarit Riviera. So if the new exclusive is all-inclusive, what else should be included for a memorable stay?

Guesthouses, while more limited, offer an authentic taste of local cuisine, often with a personal touch. In the end, it's about what you're looking for. Craving luxury and don't mind splurging for a secluded paradise experience? Resort it is. But if you're all for local culture not to mention saving some bucks, guesthouses could be your jam. No matter what you choose, the Maldives is gonna be unforgettable!!!

One of the most exciting hotel openings for Marriott International recently has been TA'AKTANA, a Luxury Collection Resort & Spa, Labuan Bajo!!As a Kid in Saudi Arabia renowned for his love of travel and adventure, I drew up a bucket list of things to do when I was around 10, places I wanted to travel. It had about 50 items. At age 37, I have finished more than forty of those. One of the few remaining items on my list is to see the KOMODO DRAGONS which is endemic to Indonesia, specifically Komodo Island. These are fascinating creatures and I have long wanted to see them. Also the famous PINK BEACH of both Komodo & Pandar Island is something I was very curious about. I couldn't do it until now because LABUAN BAJO, a small town on the Island of FLORES, is the base camp or rather, more appropriately, the getaway to visit KOMODO National park and there wasn't a single Marriott Hotels there until now....How very exciting. This resort looks magnificent!!Spread over a huge 15 hectares, what I love about this property is that its basic category is a suite & a spacious 742 sqft at that. Kudos to the owner of this property & The Luxury Collection for creating rooms with ample space. Resort properties charge obscene amounts of money and the least they can do is offer the space, especially for families with kids. The World's greatest Ambassador elite of Marriott Bonvoy, Ivin Oommen approves!!They have 45 suites and 25 villas, and some of the latter comes with private pool. But the Highlight has to be the 7 OVERWATER VILLAS that is pictured below...WOW!!Gives Maldives a run for their money. My only bone of contention would be that the overwater villas should have had their own PRIVATE POOL...Why wasn't it done? In any case, it would still be awesome and that's where I will be when I stay here. I do a lot of research before choosing to visit a hotel and one of my parameters is the GENERAL MANAGER!!!I liken the GM to the Captain of a ship. Everything leads from the top. If the Captain is great, the crew and the ship will sail smoothly. If the Captain is useless, rotten & hopeless, the ship will 'Sink'. Likewise, if the GM is great, chances are that my stay will be stress free. If the GM is bad, then most likely, my time in the hotel will certainly encounter 'Turbulence'. Sabreena Jacob, a seasoned Marriott Veteran who worked with the Brand for over 21 years is the GM of this property. My sources indicate that she has a good reputation overall, started with JW Marriott Hotel, Cairo where she spent 5 years, moved to Dubai, then a 6 year stint in Thailand which included JW Marriott Bangkok and Marriott Executive Apartments. She then moved on to Cambodia as the GM of Le Méridien Hotels & Resorts Siem Reap where I read about some issues regarding striking employees. And that Hotel is still not open for some reason. In any case, Sabreena has had a stellar career & lots of experience in APAC. Good luck to her & the rest of the team, I look forward to visiting soon!!

Mahindra Holidays & Resorts India Limited Dear Mr. Anand Mahindra, I hope this message finds you well. I am writing to express my concerns regarding my experience with Club Mahindra Holidays & Resorts, particularly with the services provided and the pricing structure. In 2016, I decided to invest approximately ₹5 lakhs in Club Mahindra, believing that this would provide quality vacation options at premium resorts. However, after several years of use, I regret this decision. Below, I highlight the key reasons for my dissatisfaction: Resort Quality: Many resorts, especially in northern and western India, do not meet the expected standards for the price paid. Some rooms seem to have been converted from older hotels, offering poor décor and small spaces that do not align with the cost. Food Costs and Quality: Food at Club Mahindra resorts is costly, with meals not included in the upfront payment, and an additional GST charge is applied. The quality and variety of food are subpar, and the service often leaves much to be desired. Noise Disturbance: Many resorts play loud music in the evening until around 10 PM, disturbing the peace and natural surroundings. When I raised this concern, I was told it was part of the “enjoyment” for other guests. This is unacceptable for a place meant to offer a relaxing experience. Transportation Fees: Guests are often charged for transportation, such as pickup and drop-off, which should be a complimentary service. Other hotels and resorts I’ve stayed at have offered these services as a gesture of hospitality, but this was not the case with Club Mahindra. Additional Charges for Basic Services: While many resorts offer complimentary breakfast, Club Mahindra charges extra, with costs upwards of ₹6,000 excluding GST. This is unreasonable given the high upfront payment. Annual Charges: Every year, the membership fee increases by 15-20%, with no clear explanation or added benefits in return. The minimal discounts or loyalty points offered for larger payments do not justify these increases. In summary, I regret investing my hard-earned money into Club Mahindra. The ongoing charges and substandard services have made this decision feel like a poor investment. Had I saved the money, I could have earned interest and enjoyed vacations at resorts with better service. I sincerely hope you take these concerns seriously and make improvements to enhance the guest experience. I look forward to seeing how Club Mahindra addresses these issues. Thanks for cheating us.
