5 Operational Challenges That Will Bottleneck Your Business. Every small business is going to experience a series of Operational challenges that will bottleneck their business. And because you’re going to experience them, it’s important that you know what they are, so you can identify them as they happen. Here’s a breakdown of 5 Operational challenges you are going to experience as a small business owner that will bottleneck your business: 1. Vision to Execution Many business owners identify as the visionary. They think BIG. And they intend to reach big. This is a required component for growing and remaining relevant in the marketplace, but it doesn’t translate well into answering the question, “What actions are your team supposed to take today that will help them move closer to accomplishing your vision?” Every single week, your team needs to know what target they’re aiming at. They need your vision to be broken down into actionable steps they can execute on with clarity. 2. Department / Team Alignment As your business and team grows, you’ll find yourself having individual meetings with your key team members, and they’ll be off to the races doing their portion of the work. The problem with this is, those key players may be communicating with you, but they’re not communicating with each other. Especially with departments like Marketing and Sales, you always want them to be aligned, working together towards the same goals. If they’re not aligned, it will result in customer confusion and dissatisfaction, and longterm that will only hurt your company’s reputation. 3. Team Support Part of the goal with having a team is getting them to a point where they can operate the business without you having to be available 24/7. In order for this to be possible, they need access to the right information and tools that can give them what they need to execute with minimal questions or confusion. 4. Technology Systems & Tools In order to operate your business effectively, you need to utilize a series of technology solutions. In order to continue growing your business in a sustainable way, those technology solutions cannot be outdated or janky. You need to be strategic about setting up the right technology solutions, so you can reduce your business lag (the time delay between you accomplishing crucial business activities), and continue driving results. 5. Team Development As your business continues to grow and change, you will need to project which team members you need to hire next, which ones you need to promote, and which ones you need to let go. In order to make these types of decisions, you have to have clarity on the business’s overall strategy, know which projects the business needs to work on in order to accomplish the bigger vision, and have clarity on how your current team members are contributing / their track record for contributing.
