Amazon has successfully positioned themselves as a logistics powerhouse, with BofA projecting over 9 billion package deliveries globally this year. This puts Amazon ahead of UPS, making it potentially the largest US shipper. Delivery speed has also seen significant improvements, with about 25% of units now delivered on the same or next day. However, even with substantial efficiency improvements in 2023, all five of the logistics utilization metrics tracked by BofA, including units per square foot, remain below 2018 levels. This suggests there's still potential for further efficiency gains.

🔥 It’s Q4, and Amazon just made a major announcement. CEO Andy Jassy revealed an overhaul in their inbound logistics – with hundreds of changes and over 15 new facilities focused on processing inventory. Sounds impressive, right? But here’s the million-dollar question: What Does This Mean for Sellers During the Busiest Time of Year? 💰 Amazon claims: 👉 25% improvement in inventory spread across fulfillment centers 👉Faster regional deliveries and reduced transportation costs 👉More robotics to streamline operations and boost safety Sounds like a dream setup for us sellers. But here’s the flip side: Capacity Constraints 🛑 Many of us are already feeling the pinch. West Coast facilities have reached inbound capacity, leading to delays in processing inventory. And with Amazon re-routing shipments to the East Coast, is the hassle of longer shipping times and rerouted fees really helping sellers – or just Amazon’s bottom line? The Big Picture: Sellers, What’s Your Take? 👉 Are these changes really going to streamline your Q4 logistics, or will they add another layer of complexity? 👉 Have you seen delays, extra fees, or unexpected re-routing? Why Moving Logistics to Amazon and eBay is a Game-Changer Last night, I couldn't stop thinking about why so many companies, big and small, are shifting logistics to Amazon and eBay. Here’s why it makes sense. #### Unmatched Infrastructure Amazon and eBay have perfected logistics networks over decades. Massive warehouses, cutting-edge inventory systems, and top-notch delivery networks. Why reinvent the wheel? #### Cost Efficiency Real estate, labor, and transportation costs can drain budgets. By leveraging Amazon or eBay's logistics, companies can cut costs dramatically: - 15% savings on logistics - 23-28% savings on sustaining costs Here's what companies could save annually: - **$100 million company**: $4.5-$7.5 million - **$500 million company**: $22.5-$37.5 million - **$1 billion company**: $45-$75 million If you're not doing this, you're throwing away millions that could be reinvested in innovation, marketing, and customer service, driving growth. #### Scalability and Flexibility Need to scale up for the holiday rush? Amazon and eBay's infrastructure can handle it. Medium-sized companies like RecPro benefit greatly. #### Global Reach These platforms give you access to a global customer base without the headache of managing international shipping. Products reach customers faster and more efficiently. #### Advanced Technology Amazon and eBay’s tech for order processing and inventory management is top-notch. They streamline operations, cut errors, and boost efficiency. #### Real-World Examples - **Nike** and **Apple**: Streamlining distribution and reaching more customers. - **Procter & Gamble** and **3M**: Optimizing supply chains and cutting costs. - **Dyson** and **Lego**: Expanding market reach and improving customer satisfaction. - **RecPro**: Benefiting from the scalability and flexibility of these logistics giants. #### Why It Matters Sometimes we just don't open our eyes to how many companies aren’t doing this. Sure, there's fear Amazon might buy you if you're successful, but saving millions can do a lot for your business – maybe even get that flying car! The old ladies can't beat them, join them! Wow, this isn't new, but it’s interesting how these companies took over logistics by moving, storing, stocking, and transporting things efficiently. This efficiency turned into a powerhouse system. **#Logistics #Amazon #eBay #SupplyChain #BusinessEfficiency #GlobalReach #CostSavings #Scalability #Innovation #TechSolutions** ---

Are you a seller with Amazon dealing with backlogs and capacity issues with AWS? The holidays are here 🎅 . Is this a problem that a successful business continues to live with? Why??? Reach out to me so that we can discuss next steps - estafford@ups.com. How Amazon Sellers are Navigating Capacity Constraints Supply Chain Dive November 07, 2024 Amazon sellers are facing capacity constraints in the company's logistics network, particularly at West Coast facilities, as the holiday season approaches. These issues, exacerbated by Amazon's inbound fulfillment changes, are causing delays in processing seller inventory. To alleviate the situation, Amazon is rerouting goods and reducing fees for Eastern U.S. shipments. However, experts predict that these capacity challenges may persist until 2025, forcing sellers to choose between costly restocking methods or risking low inventory during peak demand. Desert Cactus has experienced inbound fulfillment problems since late July, with much of its inventory stuck in Amazon Warehousing & Distribution (AWD). Although Amazon has increased AWD storage, high demand has led to backlogs. https://lnkd.in/g4wW3vfS

𝐖𝐢𝐥𝐥 𝐀𝐦𝐚𝐳𝐨𝐧’𝐬 𝐨𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐡𝐚𝐮𝐥 𝐥𝐢𝐟𝐭 𝐨𝐫 𝐥𝐢𝐦𝐢𝐭 𝐬𝐦𝐚𝐥𝐥 𝐬𝐞𝐥𝐥𝐞𝐫𝐬? Amazon recently made significant strides in its inbound fulfillment, catching the logistics industry's attention. In Q3, they launched over 15 new facilities to streamline product entry into their network. CEO Andy Jassy shared that these changes have boosted inventory distribution by 25% year over year, bringing products closer to customers and speeding up deliveries. 𝑪𝒉𝒂𝒍𝒍𝒆𝒏𝒈𝒆𝒔 𝒇𝒐𝒓 𝑻𝒉𝒊𝒓𝒅-𝑷𝒂𝒓𝒕𝒚 𝑺𝒆𝒍𝒍𝒆𝒓𝒔: - West Coast Delays: Capacity issues are slowing down inventory processing for many third-party sellers. - Shift to the East: Amazon encourages sellers to redirect shipments to the Eastern U.S. to ease congestion. - Incentives: Reduced placement fees are being offered to make the shift more manageable for sellers. 𝑾𝒉𝒂𝒕’𝒔 𝑵𝒆𝒙𝒕 𝒇𝒐𝒓 𝑳𝒐𝒈𝒊𝒔𝒕𝒊𝒄𝒔? These changes raise questions about the future of logistics partnerships and a balanced nationwide distribution. The eastward shift may ease West Coast congestion for now but suggests Amazon is rethinking inventory flows, potentially adding complexity as demand changes. Amazon is also doubling down on automation, using advanced robots for tasks like stowing, picking, and packing to boost delivery speed and improve worker safety. 𝑩𝒐𝒕𝒕𝒐𝒎 𝑳𝒊𝒏𝒆: This shift could set a new benchmark in fulfillment, yet it’s a balancing act. While faster operations improve efficiency, the added complexity might create challenges, especially for smaller sellers. #logistics #supplychain #amazon
