These 2 practices can help us create a stronger civil society: There’s a lot that the private sector can do. In the wake of hurricanes striking across the Southeast this fall, nonprofit organizations played a vital role in delivering much needed aid to hard hit communities. Last month, nonprofits across the country took part in educating voter. They registered young people to vote, and encouraged broad participation in the democratic process. The Community Foundation of North Central Massachusetts is pleased to announce $49,250 in grants to five area nonprofits working to advance racial equity and social justice in our region. The Community Foundation’s Racial Equity Advisory Committee, co-chaired by Leona Whetzel and Sergio Paez, reviewed and recommended the programs. https://lnkd.in/eV49-xEG

TrainingGrounds, a WKKF grantee, is setting a new standard in community engagement by helping Spanish-speaking families in New Orleans access early childhood education and essential services. As the 2024 Election nears, make sure your nonprofit has policies in place to support civic engagement, such as paid time off to vote and serve as poll workers.
