⚫ AGITATED THIN FILM DRYER (ATFD) This is an major equipment used in ZLD process which converts the feed into vapour and seperate the powder (Salt) from the feed. As this is a rotary equipment with desired length as per the area,the inner rotatory drum should be in centre to centre through out the operation where the blades in the drum scrubs the salt obtained from the feed in mainshell due to thermal heating given from jacket shell to the feed. 📌 Points to be noted while designing ATFD :- 📍 Mainshell & Jacket shell thickness. 📍 Corrosion allowance & Scrubbing area of mainshell. 📍 Jacket shell & Mainshell Cleareance. 📍 MOC of Mainshell based on feed (As the Jacket shell undergoes steam medium it can be 304L). 📍 Top chuck nut & Thread (As the entire rotatory drum is supported on chucknuts). 📍 Gearbox and motor ratio. 📍 Machining accuracy 📍 Safety Nozzle in Jacket shell. 📌 Problems Faced in production :- 📍 The inner blade drum (Rotary drum) should be machined,but the precision was out after welding the machined top and bottom shaft in blade drum which caused more than 10 to 20 mm out in the bottom side while running, which resulted in shaft breakage, improper scrubbing over the mainshell walls, and unexpected breakdowns. 📌 Solution taken :- 📍 The shafts in top and bottom are roughly machined and welded in drum and final machining was done after the welding, where as the heat distortion issue was resolved (finding a vendor to machine the entire drum in one setting was crucial) 📍 And to maintain the accuracy between the drum and mainshell the mainshell was designed as compartment whereas if the mainshell is 7.5 metres it is been divided into 5 compartment with the flange system and machined (vertical turning) and drilled post weld and bolted to maintain the accuracy through out the equipment. #zld #wastewatertreatment #sustainability #innovation #desalination #ro #fabrication #processequipments
