According to Virginia Satir's Iceberg Theory, only a small part of our true selves is visible. Most of our feelings, values, and desires lie hidden beneath the surface. Children often don't understand their deeper emotions and may pretend to be happy to fit in. MangaChat use simple prompts to help kids explore and express these hidden feelings. Emotional literacy. Fascinating concept the latest offer of help for my 7yr old autistic child with alexithymia and interoceptive differences. I'd love to know if this is a concept built on neurotypical trajectories of emotional development, but more importantly whether teaching a child to fawn emotional responses for the sake of appearing normal isn't going to add to problems in an alexithymic child. All I actually wanted was for the school to understand that she may appear OK in conventional terms, but may not be in her terms. I will keep an open mind, but the first whiff of coaching or behavioural conversion and I'm going to be on it.

This is another fascinating sparkDEBATE about why emotional intelligence is important for adults working in the early years. However, the expert information by @Dave Read helps relieve stress – whatever job you are in! These techniques can be incorporated into nursery and preschool routines to include the children for mutual benefit. Just three nuggets from this presentation: 1. Children naturally do it, but adults don’t, but we should! 2. Taking a deep breath and counting to 10 when stressed doesn’t help, although we think it does! 3. How you get up from a chair can be significant! 👇🏼 Write below and tell us what you intend to try first? #emotionalintellegence https://lnkd.in/emX_shE2 Dave Read

SELF ESTEEM IN CHILDREN Self-esteem is liking yourself and believing in yourself. Self-esteem helps children face challenges, try new things, learn and develop well. Loving relationships, balanced feedback and encouragement are good for children’s self-esteem. Self-esteem gives children confidence to: ✔️try new things and try again when things don’t go as planned ✔️do things that they might not enjoy or normally be good at ✔️face challenges rather than avoid them. When children try new things, face challenges and bounce back, they learn and grow. This is why self-esteem is an important part of child development. #learningfacilitator What's your definition of self esteem, share your opinions in the comment
