Technology totem pole I clearly remember a discussion with Ian Jenkins and Fin Cormack MCInstCES about creating a device that combined the functions of a GNSS rover, a camera and laser scanner. Imagine how you could combine all these sensors and just go wondering around a football training ground (say) to create a mega topographic survey with spot levels but also heights of trees etc. Perhaps even measurement of things you didn’t know were important at the time of the survey. Well guess what I’m doing today with a proper surveyor (Michelle Hands ) on a football training ground using a product from CHC Navigation | CHCNAV I’d love to know some surveyors thoughts on this. Why isn’t everyone using one of these for topographical surveys.
