Weekend Post - Half in Jest - Games People Play…in my class Last week, I found myself competing with “placement season priorities”, leading to dipping attendance in my Systems Thinking course. I pulled out all the artillery in my arsenal - games, drama, cartoons, videos (Matrix, Big Bang Theory, Spider Man). The game in this video requires the Players to place the hoop on the floor, without the finger losing touch with the hoop. Contrary to the objective, the hoop begins to rise, even as everyone shouts “down, down, down!. Lesson - the Performance of a System can be different from the Stated Objective. Did the bells and whistles improve the effectiveness of the class? I don’t know. “When do I know….?” “You won’t….. That’s all it is, Miles, a leap of faith” This clip, (from Spiderman - Into the Spiderverse), was the closing lesson for my students. Applies as much to me. A big Thank you Shraddha Joshi and Sawyasachi Awasthi for their enthusiastic support in running the course, including in managing the Beer Game (more on the Beer Game in another post). And, of course, to the Batmen of the batch (they know who they are! ;-) #FunCanBeLearning #SystemsThinking

Thank you Prof. for allowing me to be a part of this course! The way you connect systems thinking concepts with games and movies has left a lasting impression on me. I've thoroughly enjoyed and learned so much. The last two classes were absolutely amazing! Truly grateful for this experience.
