It’s been 10 years since Philip Morris International announced its bold ambition of a Smoke-Free future. I had the privilege to be part of the team which first launched IQOS in Japan back in 2014. We’ve come a long way since then, with our Smoke-Free portfolio representing today about 38% of our total net revenues.     This rapid growth was only possible thanks to the massive transformation we put together: going from a mono-category company - with a relatively simple and predictable supply chain - to proposing a wide-range portfolio of products, with very diverse supply networks and leveraging on multiple distribution channels.      I recently had the pleasure to return to Japan together with Scott Coutts, our SVP Operations. We visited some of our key distributors and logistics partners in this important market. They are very important for us, in PMI, as they’ve witnessed the evolution of our business and helped us grow, ensuring we continuously deliver service superiority to our consumers.     10 years have passed, and we are really turning Ambitions into Reality! Last month, I visited Poland, Germany, and Spain and had the opportunity to witness firsthand the incredible progress these EU markets are making towards Philip Morris International’s #smokefree vision. 🙌 Joined by Jacek Olczak, Christos Harpantidis, Massimo Andolina and Werner Barth, we had in-depth discussions on the current landscape and the strides we've made in each country of this region.   The smoke-free category in Europe has shown a positive trajectory since 2020, with market share surpassing 10% in Q1 ’24. This region is opening up more to smoke-free alternatives, reflecting a shift in consumer preferences and thus leading to a successful expansion of this category. In fact, in Q1 ’24, our net revenue from smoke-free products in Europe accounted for more than 40% of PMI’s total smoke-free business.   While progress has been made, our journey is far from over.
