The EU Energy Market Monitoring Report to 2024 by the EU Agency for the Cooperation of Energy Regulators (ACER) and the Council of European Energy Regulators (CEER) highlights the slow implementation of smart meters as a barrier to unlocking power system flexibility across the region. Moreover, it also highlights that a further challenge to consumer participation is that almost three-quarters of EU households are on regulated fixed and market-based fixed electricity contracts and in many cases there are no real alternatives offered. I am excited that our latest Snapshot report is out! In it we take a broad view at what happened last year on the PV market. Key points are - the always-more-than-forcasted global annual volume, hitting somewhere between 407 GW and 477 GW (why a range? Check out the report to understand this!) - the significant volume of module inventories (we could équipe Europe for the next couple of years..) - and the discussion on the production / installation mismatch.

Does your business really care about the Review of Electricity Market Arrangements (#REMA)? The Department for Energy Security and Net Zero (DESNZ) has published the second phase consultation of REMA, which outlines proposals such as the need for more gas-fired plants as a back up for #renewablegeneration. With the consultation due to close next Tuesday, our new blog from Thomas Paul looks at what REMA is, and what it means for both business energy users and independent generators➡️ https://nbs.energy/3JNMqMB
