While the after market is voting against AMAT, it appears to me that AMAT has had a wonderful quarter. This perspective depends if the holder has a trader’s or LT owner’s perspective. I’ll run my complete fundamentals tonight, but I’m quite confident they nailed it. You only have to consider how many semiconductor companies are currently building FABs and the number of FAB’s that these companies are building. For example, INTC is building two in Arizona, two in Ohio and one in Germany. I think they are planning on one in Ireland too. And that’s just intel. Amat makes the equipment that semiconductor companies use to make semiconductors. Be smart, be well-read, be aware and be successful!

Blue Cheetah's Elad Alon explains why the path forward for a chiplet market lies in the multi-vendor ecosystems approach. The partners in these ecosystems will define the individual chiplet sockets that meet the sweet spots for their target product, product family, or overall product roadmap. Today marks Day One of my exploration into the role of semiconductor in (IC's) Semiconductors are central to Moore’s Law, enabling the doubling of transistors on a chip every two years through advancements in materials and manufacturing. This drives increased performance, energy efficiency, and cost reductions. However, adhering to Moore’s Law has made semiconductor production more complex and expensive, pushing the industry to innovate with new materials, 3D architectures, and alternative computing methods. While Moore's Law faces physical limits, it continues to shape the semiconductor industry’s evolution and global technological advancements. Excited to dive in to this topic! @ieees edc @iees eds

The European Commission has approved a significant funding initiative of €1.3 billion aimed at establishing a state-of-the-art semiconductor advanced packaging and testing facility in Novara, Italy. This initiative, led by Silicon Box, is a crucial part of Europe’s strategy to bolster its semiconductor production capabilities. The funding aligns with the European Chips Act and the Commission's 2024-2029 Political Guidelines, focusing on enhancing technological autonomy and security of supply in this essential sector. I thought IDM star formation was over in the Semiconductor Galaxy as I have only experienced fewer IDMs in my brief semiconductor career, not more. The Integrated Device Manufacturing business model has become too capital-intensive for most companies, and the fabless model is attractive. But after a less-than-exciting TI investor call, I did the analysis anyway and was surprised. Like most, I know TI has fabs, and they have received Chips Act candy to build more. But I was astonished at the scale of TI's ambitions. It does not look like a continuation of the mixed manufacturing model; to me, it seems like an attempt at becoming a full-blown IDM.
