Do you know the condition of your roof Never overlook your roof, it can impact every aspect of your home and it may be the most vulnerable aspect of your home. The elements attack it daily, yet it protects you. It won’t last forever, so it’s important to stay aware of the condition of your roof throughout the year. Inspect it a few times each year to be aware of its condition. You want a healthy roof to hold back the elements. A few minor repairs may give you time to save up and replace the roof in a few years and remember to update your insurance agent. Come home to COUNTRY...Come home to Dale! *SCAM Alert!* Here are some tips on what to watch out for after you buy your new home. One of the most common ‘offers’ you could call a “Legal Scam” is to sell you copies of your Deed Documents. You’ll get a very official-looking letter offering you copies of your deed documents for about $100. It almost seems like something you’re required to do— but if you read the small print, you’ll see that they’re actually offering you a detailed property report, which is something you can get for free, and all of your deed documentation should be available to you for free from your Title Company! Don’t do it! …and any time you have questions about your deed documents, consult your Title Agency. Here are four more worthwhile things we recommend to do after you move in: 1.Re-key the locks. 2. Locate the Gas and Water Valves so that you know where they are in case of emergency. 3. Set an annual reminder for yourself to shop insurance rates— Rates tend to fluctuate and you may very well find a better deal in a year. 4. Check all smoke alarms and carbon monoxide detectors if you have them to make sure they’re in good working order... Next time you interview your insurance broker, try asking “Who would be my primary point of contact for daily requests?” This question will tell you a lot about the level of investment the agency makes in servicing your account. It may be easy to buy insurance online, and sure it’s great to have a policy with a couple clicks. But what happens when you have a question about this thing you just bought? This thing that is supposed to protect you when you’re having the worst day of your life? This product that you probably understand at a very superficial level? Or perhaps the agency has had turnover at their customer service position? Or your account is so small that you’ll never make it off the bottom of the pile? Knowing who is responsible for your account it is a critical piece of information. #whonothow #insurancebroker #brokerinterview
