May is Mental Health Awareness Month, and it's important to remember that mental health affects everyone, especially educational leaders. This month started with a stark reminder for myself this morning of the toll that mental health can take. A former colleague of mine and school leader, one of the nicest guys I've ever known, died by suicide yesterday. He was an advocate for many and cared deeply about others. His passing serves as a reminder of the importance of prioritizing leaders' mental health.
Mental health of leaders is why I do what I do. Leadership coaching is one way we can provide support to leaders who are often expected to carry the weight of everyone and everything under their care. But a good leader knows they don't have to bear that weight alone. It's crucial to put in the right supports and give leaders, especially in our schools, the right people in their corners.
May is challenging in so many ways, especially in our schools. Let's prioritize leaders' mental health this #MentalHealthAwarenessMonth and provide the support they need to carry out their important work. If I can support that in any way please reach out. #leadership #LeadershipCoaching #MentalHealth #MentalHealthMatters #principals #superintendents
