Today our Tanzania Early Childhood Education and Care (TECEC) team had a home visit where we found children immersed in play. Play and learning are inseparable in early childhood, but their importance often goes unrecognized. Play is not merely a pastime; it is vital for a child's development. Through play, children develop problem-solving, creativity, and social skills. We advocate for recognizing the value of play. Let's raise awareness about the significance of play in early childhood and ensure every child has the opportunity to play and explore freely. #PlayAndLearn #EarlyChildhoodDevelopment #PowerOfPlay

Starting school is one of the biggest steps that children get to take. At the age of four, a child in Kenya is ready to begin their classroom journey. Although primary school education is free, early childhood education is 𝐍𝐎𝐓. 𝐄𝐚𝐫𝐥𝐲 𝐂𝐡𝐢𝐥𝐝𝐡𝐨𝐨𝐝 𝐄𝐝𝐮𝐜𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 (𝐄𝐂𝐃) constitutes the two years of pre-primary school that children go through. Not every parent can afford to take their children to school immediately they hit four years old, despite their efforts and willingness. 𝐋𝐞𝐟𝐭 𝐮𝐧𝐭𝐢𝐥 𝐦𝐨𝐧𝐞𝐲 𝐢𝐬 𝐚𝐯𝐚𝐢𝐥𝐚𝐛𝐥𝐞, 𝐦𝐚𝐣𝐨𝐫𝐢𝐭𝐲 𝐨𝐟 𝐜𝐡𝐢𝐥𝐝𝐫𝐞𝐧 𝐫𝐞𝐦𝐚𝐢𝐧 𝐛𝐞𝐡𝐢𝐧𝐝 𝐰𝐡𝐢𝐥𝐞 𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐢𝐫 𝐩𝐞𝐞𝐫𝐬 𝐭𝐚𝐤𝐞 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐥𝐞𝐚𝐝. We help parents and caregivers avoid this delay through the ECD program. With a combined unit cost of 𝐊𝐬𝐡 𝟏𝟏,𝟔𝟖𝟗 or € 𝟖𝟐, a child could start school, and be retained for two terms, allowing their parents enough time to save and prepare to take over this responsibility. By providing 𝐚𝐜𝐜𝐞𝐬𝐬, we ensure no child is left behind. We also ensure the achievement of educational milestones by removing these barriers. #Educationnforall #Education #Macheo #Children #removingbarrierstoeducation #Educationmatters

In Kenya, schools have closed for the long break, leaving parents pondering activities for their children. However, this period should be seen as an opportunity for parents to engage more actively and empower themselves for meaningful interactions with their children, not only during holidays but consistently. It raises the question: are parents aware that the Competency Based Curriculum includes a component that encourages and empowers parental engagement? Six years have elapsed since the curriculum's introduction, making it imperative to act now despite the time that has passed. # Parents Association # KICD Leaders of Africa

🧐 Boarding School: Sanctuary or Struggle for Young Minds? Navigating the complex world of boarding schools can be both a relief and a challenge, especially for children coming from difficult home environments. However, considering it as a mere escape from adversity might not do justice to what truly matters. Here are some key insights: - Boarding schools demand young children to adapt to structured environments, which can feel unnatural. - Research from 2015 on Indian orphanages showed stronger peer attachments than with caregivers, raising concerns. - Healthy attachments should ideally be with someone who can ensure safety and stability, unlike peers. Regulating emotions and dealing with fear are formidable challenges for individuals not adequately supported. Where does the balance lie between offering refuge and requiring resilience? Please do share your thoughts and experiences #BoardingSchool #ChildDevelopment #YouthMentalHealth #EmotionalResilience #SafeAttachment #EducationalInsights
