Power Integrations has introduced a new wide-creepage package option for its InnoSwitch 3-AQ flyback switcher IC, enhancing safety and efficiency in high-voltage electric vehicle (EV) power systems. Designed for 800-V EV architectures, the IC eliminates the need for conformal coating by offering a 5.1 mm drain-to-source creepage distance, ensuring compliance with IEC60664-1 standards while simplifying manufacturing and improving reliability. The 1700 V-rated InnoSwitch3-AQ ICs integrate a silicon carbide (SiC) primary switch, delivering up to 80 W of output power with greater than 90% efficiency. Targeting critical EV applications such as battery management systems, µdc-dc converters, and traction inverter emergency power supplies, the solution reduces component count by up to 50%.
