Safety II and learning from normal work are part of the the NHS Patient Safety Strategy (including training). Excerpts from pages 42-43: "Start to study how people continuously adapt to fit the circumstances they are in, the way people adjust or make trade-offs to be able to continue to provide safe and good quality care when equipment or documentation is unavailable. ... Ask people who complete certain tasks every day how they get them done and what gets in the way of doing their daily work. ... Leaders should have curiosity to discover how the world looks from others’ points of view. ... The NHS will embed training in learning from what goes well alongside other prospective safety improvement techniques in the new national patient safety syllabus." NHS stands for National Health Service and is the publicly funded healthcare system of the United Kingdom. The attached strategy document is in public domain and available on the NHS website.

This week we are delivering our Nutrition and Hydration training. 🍎 As part of this training, candidates are required to work out a patients BMI through the use of formula. 📝 So here it is.... why not give it a try?. BMI (body mass index) formula: Weight in kilograms divided by height in meters squared - BMI = weight (kg) / height (m)². For example, if you weigh 70 kg and are 1.70 m tall, your BMI would be calculated as follows: Square your height in meters: 1.70 x 1.70 = 2.89 Divide your weight in kilograms: 70 ÷ 2.89 = 24.22 // Most health care providers experience difficulties when it comes to training compliance.
