This study suggests that the #ketogenic diet may slow the progression of autosomal dominant polycystic kidney disease (#ADPKD) by reducing aerobic glycolysis, inhibiting the mTOR pathway, and promoting fatty acid oxidation, which leads to decreased cyst proliferation and improved kidney function. The study found that a #ketogenic diet significantly increased gut microbial diversity and butyrate production in children with #ASD, reduced pro-inflammatory cytokines IL-1β and IL-12p70, and decreased plasma levels of BDNF-associated miRNAs, suggesting an alternative mechanism for improving ASD symptoms. Turmeric milk exhibits therapeutic potential in various diseases including cancer, inflammation and neurodegeneration. Curcumin is the main active ingredient in turmeric, and it has many potential health benefits. However, curcumin is poorly absorbed by the body on its own. Black pepper contains piperine, a compound that can increase curcumin absorbility by astonishing 2000%. #turmeric #turmericmilk #healthyfood #nutritionist #weightloss #Weightlosstransformation #lifestylecoach #dietplan #stressmanagement #sleepmanagement #yogainstructor #fitnessgoals #wellnesscoach #Healthyfood

[How Much Protein Can You Eat with Kidney Disease?] -Daily protein intake for kidney patients with normal kidney function is 1g/kg. -For kidney patients with glomerular filtration rate (GFR)<60mL/min, protein intake should be limited to 0.8g/kg per day. -If the glomerular filtration rate further decreases, protein intake should be limited to <0.6g/kg per day. Excessive consumption of protein can increase the burden on the kidneys, leading to the inability to eliminate protein metabolites such as urea and uric acid from the body, resulting in an increase in blood urea and urea nitrogen. #kidneydisease #kidneydiseasediet #protein

#ManuscriptMonday Exciting insights from a recent study using RepliGut® #mucus to study host-pathogen interactions 🦠 Mucus serves a nutrient source for resident microbiota and acts as a physical barrier between intestinal epithelial cells and pathogens; however, bacterial pathogens can exploit this layer to enhance colonization and infection. 🧬 Using mucus produced by Altis’ primary human intestinal epithelial cells, authors discovered that host-derived mucus promotes growth and biofilm formation of the intestinal pathogen Clostridioides difficile. 🧬 Metabolic modeling and growth experiments highlighted the importance of amino acid catabolism, underscoring mucus as a key nutrient source for C. difficile. 🧬 These discoveries deepen the understanding of C. difficile’s interactions with human mucus, shedding light on potential new avenues for combating this pathogen. 🌐 Read more here: https://lnkd.in/e6rjHb3f ❓ Interested in studying bacteria-mucus interactions? Not all kidney stones are created equal! Did you know there are different types of kidney stones, each with unique causes and treatments? Types of Kidney Stones: Know the Difference -Calcium Stones - Most common type. - Caused by excess calcium in the urine. - Linked to high oxalate foods (like spinach, nuts). Struvite Stones - Often caused by infections. Grow quickly and can become large. - Common in people with urinary tract infections (UTIs). Uric Acid Stones - Formed in acidic urine. Linked to diets high in animal protein. - Common in people with gout. Cystine Stones - Rare, genetic condition. Caused by excess cystine in the urine. Kidney stones are not one-size-fits-all. Treatment depends on the type and cause. Stay tuned to know symptoms, causes, treatment types and more. When intestinal inflammation occurs, nutrient absorption is compromised. The intestine undergoes accelerated cell sloughing resulting in shorter villi. Shortened villi reduce the ability to absorb nutrients, and also causes lower brush border enzyme activity. A thyroid goiter is an enlargement of the thyroid gland, typically caused by iodine deficiency, autoimmune conditions, or other underlying thyroid disorders. The incidence of goiter varies globally, with regions of iodine deficiency having higher rates. Endemic goiter is more common in regions where there's a lack of iodine in the diet, such as certain parts of Africa, Asia, and South America, but it can occur anywhere in the world. This CT shows a enlarged thyroid with compression effect on the trachea. #thyroidhealth #thyroiddisease #thyroidproblems
