SAPO one of Portugal's biggest online news outlets, has published COREangels founder and the leader of COREangels Lisbon, Rui Falcao article on Angelpreneurism. In his resumed words, “The diversity of the individuals are grounded in the diversity of angel profiles in our group. Also expressed when we decide, choose, vote and mentor the startups. Darwinians more finantial driven, Communitarian more problem solvers, missionaries more purpose oriented.” In fact, there are different motivations for an angel investor and its great when we can put together all of them and take the best from all. The sum of the different participants is clearly superior to what can be achieved individually because all aspects are important. In a recent interview with "Vida Económica," Nuno Francisco, Head Country of an Italian niche Bank and COREangels Lisbon angel investor, shared his view on COREangels and COREangels Lisbon activity. Its always more complete to read the original interview, but to give an idea on the interview, we took key presented topics: 1️⃣ Nuno highlighted the growing investment in Portuguese startups. "With around €800,000 invested in eight startups, our goal is to have 25 startups in our portfolio by 2026," he stated. COREangels Lisbon's portfolio includes innovative startups like BHOUT, revolutionizing gaming and fitness, and Ethiack, a cybersecurity platform. 2️⃣ How COREangels Operates COREangels International supports various investment funds, including COREangels Lisbon, through a collective investment process. "This allows investors to make decisions together, reducing risks and enriching decision-making with diverse opinions," Nuno explained. 3️⃣ Global Network and Local Support COREangels Lisbon benefits from COREangels International's network, accessing regional and global investment opportunities. "We are connected to other COREangels funds across Europe, North America, Latin America, the Middle East, and Africa, enabling participation in global events," Nuno noted. 4️⃣ Ensuring Success Amid Uncertainty COREangels Lisbon maintains a democratic voting system where every investor has equal voting rights. The fund invests approximately €100,000 per startup, aiming for 25 startups by 2026. "Our diverse portfolio spans sectors like food, travel, hospitality, education, data analytics, automation, cybersecurity, and fitness," Nuno added. 5️⃣ Impact of Government Policies and Market Competition Nuno acknowledged the positive steps taken by the Portuguese government to promote entrepreneurship and startup growth. Despite the competitive market, with many investors focusing on later stages, COREangels Lisbon sees greater potential in pre-seed and seed stages. "Portugal's strategic location, favorable policies, and active entrepreneurial community attract international investors," Nuno concluded. 🔗 To read the interview, check Vida Económica (In Portuguese and in paid mode): https://lnkd.in/dwRzYCKQ 🔗 To learn more about Nuno Francisco, read the personal interview we did in March: https://lnkd.in/dyeV-hN3 👏 Nuno Francisco You rock and its great to have you at COREangels! 🙌 #Startups #Investment #COREangels #COREangelsLisbon #Angelinvesting #Innovation #Entrepreneurship #NunoFrancisco #OurAngels

The year-end always brings me to Porto. The UPTEC is not a bad final stop. This hub is the first choice for many entrepreneurs in the country. Roughly 1 in 5 Portuguese startups are in Porto; many are in UPTEC. 🟣 Porto boasts a rich entrepreneurial history. Sometimes tinkering is all it takes. The famous port wine was a result of an accidental innovation, when a pair of brothers fortified the wine with grape brandy to preserve its quality during long journeys. The rest is (wine) history. These days, Portuguese are more on the money- after all, they invented the ATM machine. 🟣 The UPTEC - Science and Technology Park of University of Porto focuses on bringing the right innovations to market. Since 2007, they have supported 700+ projects, resulting in more than 100 companies. Thanks Raphael for the introduction to the great work you are doing. Impact is part of the equation. The Fraunhofer Portugal AICOS, located at UPTEC, has cohorts such as Autonomous that focus on tackling dementia. Just like the prize-winning building, the 'corridor' from idea to market is a long one. Kudos to Cristina and the team for the tour and lunch. 🟣 Travelling and exploring is in Portuguese DNA (Portugal also invented the nautical austrolab). Inbound and outbound, the diaspora is making waves. Miguel great to meet you and share a rice cake in my favourite cafe. Fate had it that this week I also held calls with phenomenal Helena Ferreira, Pedro Guerreiro de Sousa, Miguel Coelho). Um prazer. 🟣 Now it is time to head off North to another port city: Vigo! (=home) Happy Sunday, everybody! 🟣 i-Expand ➟ #commercialization #biotechology #digitalhealth #entrepreneurship #uae
