I’m really proud of how our #PackExpo demos turned out. I’m even more proud of how the planning and execution improved over previous shows. Here’s why it went so well. 1️⃣ Alignment (and excitement) across the team → We knew exactly what we wanted to build and why 2️⃣ Early risk management → We identified the mission-critical challenges upfront to focus our planning/design discussions 3️⃣ Clear role assignment → We were clear on who needed to deliver what and by when 4️⃣ Frequent on-site check-ins → We could evaluate progress and areas for improvement with a clear understanding of our current status (instead of relying on second-hand info) 5️⃣ Setting functional deadlines + optimization deadlines → We prioritized getting the hardest part done earlier to build in a buffer so that most of the end was low-stakes adjustments And now we are set to show our light for logistics applications with a fun twist. Utilizing shark tank clips as bottom-of-the-funnel ads is by far the best way to leverage the efforts. Mashups with product demos, comments by sharks, and voice-over work well. I saw Mark Kosoglow's post about demos to start my week. It was so true, although we want to, we don’t pay attention in demos. Why? My dad would say, if you go to a car dealership the first thing you want to do is test drive the car. But often times what we do as salespeople is get in the driver seat ourselves and say “let me show you what this bad boy can do.” How boring is that? I’ve been on my soap box all week about this to anyone who would listen to me. Then I sat in on my colleague, Emile Murdock's demo and I wanted to jump out of my seat. This is what he did…. 1. He applied each module to every person on the call. Even if they were off screen and on mute. He said “who is responsible for making sure this happens?” A guy would come off of mute and raise his hand. He started paying attention knowing this would impact him directly. (Chef’s Kiss)🤌🏼 2. He asked open ended questions. Instead of saying “does this make sense?” He would say: "Walk me through what you’re doing now, in what ways would this effect your current process?” (A BIG chef’s kiss) 🤌🏼🤌🏼 What Happened? They were in the driver seat, they were engaged. They started asking us questions and start explaining WHY they were asking the questions. Bottom Line: Emile knows how to put customers in the driver seat, he was able to transfer the ownership, and they could not wait to buy the car 🚗
