SDG Agenda 2030 highlights the crucial need for gender equality and the empowerment of all women and girls. Unfortunately, the world is falling short in this regard. However, I find hope in the United Nations' call to #InvestInWomen. With 90% of my LinkedIn network consisting of decision-makers in the private sector, there's a tangible opportunity to take action. Let's advocate for policies and initiatives that foster gender equality and create avenues for women's advancement. Actions speak louder than words. Moreover, I personally resonate with this call. It's about each of us stepping up. This year, I'm investing in myself by seeking additional educational opportunities for both professional and personal growth. I invite you to join me in answering this call and #InvestInWomen.

🎯 UN Sustainable Development Goal of the Month ⚽️ GOAL 5️⃣: Gender Equality - Achieve gender equality and empower all women and girls In a world striving for peace, prosperity, and sustainability, achieving gender equality is not just a fundamental human right but also a crucial foundation. Despite progress, the journey to gender equality by 2030 requires collective action. Women and girls represent half of our global population and thus half of our potential. Yet, gender inequality persists, hindering social progress. Globally, women in the labor market earn on average 23% less than men, and women spend about three times as many hours in unpaid domestic and care work. Let's work together to dismantle barriers, empower women and girls, and create a future where everyone has equal opportunities to thrive. #AFCDreamAsia | #FootballCares

Gender analysis, a key for gender equality which involves systematically collecting and examining data on the differences and relationships between women and men, girls and boys. This analysis focuses on how resources, opportunities, constraints, and power are distributed among these groups within a specific context. It serves as the foundation for identifying, understanding, and addressing gender inequalities. Additionally, it helps assess how development interventions uniquely impact women, men, girls, and boys, guiding more equitable outcomes.

This week, as we dive into SDG 5: Gender Equality, we must confront these sobering realities. The statistics paint a stark picture: at the current rate, it will take centuries to achieve equal rights and opportunities for women and girls around the world. From ending child marriage to achieving equal representation in leadership positions, the path towards true gender equality seems daunting. However, these numbers should not discourage us; rather, they should ignite a fire for change. These are not insurmountable obstacles – they are roadblocks that we can dismantle together. SDG 5 is a call to action, urging us to break down barriers and empower women and girls to reach their full potential. This is a fight that requires action from everyone. We can all be champions for gender equality in our everyday lives, whether it is by challenging sexist stereotypes or simply amplifying the voices of the women around us. With the power of collective action – every step forward, no matter how small, will contribute to a brighter future for women and girls everywhere. #OreoluwaFinnih #SDG5 #GenderEquality #BreakTheBias #EndChildMarriage #EqualRepresentation

💡 Continue following MSA this week for more team insight into UN Women's "Count Her In: Accelerating Gender Equality Through Economic Empowerment" IWD theme. Senior Advisor, Fouzia Nasreen, touches on the importance of integrating gender-inclusive approaches into research strategy. "Development projects are conducting fantastic field research based on interventions and partnerships. However, in many cases, the women in targeted sectors are forgotten and sometimes excluded in critical research. It is a missed opportunity to identify what constraints women face towards economic engagement in the given context, and how market actors can sustainably address them." #IWD2024 #InspireInclusion #InvestInWomen

"We work with 250,000 women entrepreneurs across the world. And they tell me all the time that they are able, ready, and willing to participate in the global economy to help with development to advance their societies. They just need the support and the tools to be able to do that...If we can only understand that by giving the women the opportunity to contribute, there are actually so many things would become better..."
