Congrats, Walmart colleagues and friends on a strong quarter! While it looks and sounds a bit like a certain competitor's brand (Target's Good & Gather), the launch of bettergoods as a premium private brand is a really exciting and necessary move. Private label is still woefully underdeveloped in the US with so much room for innovation and premiumization, limited simply by retailers' imaginations. Costco Wholesale's Kirkland brand and Trader Joe's are obvious examples, but even ALDI USA has a portfolio of chief-driven, award-winning products. Consumer goods companies must double-down on quality, innovation, and value to stay relevant. Separately, it was interesting to note that Walmart will be shutting down its healthcare clinics, with Doug McMillon citing "reimbursement rates and high cost to serve." Perhaps a scale issue, but if Walmart can't make this work, it really underscores how challenging this sector is. Doug's messaging in his video to associates was a masterclass in acknowledging that innovation doesn't always work, while committing to keep learning and experimenting. Like Walmart's launch of $4 generic drugs nearly 20 years ago, Americans struggling with rising healthcare costs need Walmart and others to keep at it and disrupt a system that doesn't work for many. #retail #privatebrands #innovation #consumergoods #strategy #healthcare

Walmart is off to a great start for the new fiscal year. Q1 Results are remarkable. I encourage you to listen to Doug McMillon's message and pay attention on the importance of innovation. From technology enhancements in Sam's Club Scan & Go checkout, to the strategic role of growing its marketplace eCommerce offer, to the launch of a huge private brand bet, Better Goods, in which 70% of the products will be under $5, a clear indication that Walmart's purpose to Save People Money, so They Can Live Better, continues to be the north star of the company's decisions. I also think is worth noticing the closing of Walmart Health Clinics. Walmart will continue trying new things, accelerating those that work, and discontinuing those that don't. In healthcare, I have no doubt that we will see other ideas brewing. Walmart knows how much healthcare costs impact the average American family disposable income. Well done. I will leave you with a reminder that, purpose-driven companies, will continue showing how to run successful businesses. They are focused on the importance of the #HumanExperience, balancing their prioritization of both, #CustomerExperience and #EmployeeExperience. #EX #CX #HX HumanX Insights

Let's not overlook the power of strategic placement at the checkout counter. This Valentine's Day, as love fills the air and customers flock to celebrate, there lies a golden opportunity for restaurateurs and entrepreneurs to not only spread joy but also significantly boost sales. Why does this work? It's simple. The emotional high of Valentine's Day, combined with the satisfaction of a memorable meal, makes customers more inclined to indulge in additional purchases. It's an impulse driven by the desire to extend the celebration or take a piece of it home. And for you, it translates into increased sales, a strengthened customer relationship, and the opportunity to stand out in a crowded market. HAPPY VALENTINE'S DAY from all of us at TURNKEY! 💐 --- Btw, we talk about everything merchant services every MWF. Love seeing this on your feed? Repost ♻️ if this post speaks to you. THE MILK TRAY MAN You know the one…the ad from the 70s, 80s, 90s, where the chap’s dressed from head-to-toe in black, and going to extraordinary lengths to make sure his chocolates are always delivered on time and in pristine condition to the lucky recipient. “All because the lady loves 🍫…” n’all that. This December - although I’ll not be dressed head-to-toe in black, nor styling it out whilst jumping through windows and climbing up the side of buildings - I’ll yet again be crisscrossing the countryside, making sure all of our Truffle & Thyme Christmas hampers are safely delivered, yes, you guessed it…on time and in pristine condition 😉! Last December I did the same, and the year before that, and the year before that - this will be Christmas no.5 doing it like this in fact. Instinctively, you might well wonder why I don’t use a courier? It’s not that I don’t want to; when the volume of sales dictates it, I’ll be the first person to pick up the phone to Darren Moore from Dash Couriers. The way I see it is that if I CAN do it myself, then I WILL do it. Maybe this December might be the tipping point for me and Truffle & Thyme, but that’s growth, which is a good thing thing. However, it won’t mean I’ll stop delivering myself; I’ll still be out there chewing up the miles, but hopefully leaving the extras to be taken care of by Darren and his team. So, if you’re looking for some delicious team or client gifts this December, personally hand-delivered, then look no further. I’ll quite literally go the extra mile for you. “All because….” it’s Christmas! https://lnkd.in/ec2ED-ZS

For all of you excited for Friday Happy Hour, here is how you build a successful one for a bar/restaurant. Treat the deal as the cost of acquiring the customer. Then have a back end product you want to staff to sell in order to make money, once you have acquired the customer. Example: $1 Beer Fridays $0.60 per 10oz pour of Bud Light. Fixed Cost factored into a per drink model is $2.10 $2.10 + $0.60 = $2.70 - $1.00 in revenue = -$1.70 This means with each pour we are spending $1.70 to acquire that customer and that's only if they drink 1 beer. 😅 So you combine with full price shots and apps. You know the customer is going to get hungry. You know "the boys" are going to do shots at some point. With the staff knowing they need to sell those items and with a profit margin of $8 on each of those items, you now have the ability to profit on this deal. Always treat the deal as a customer acquisition cost. But a lot of places stop there with no thought on how to make money on the customer once they have acquired them. Add that last piece and you'll be in a much better spot. Happy Friday!

Valentine's Day is just around the corner, so make sure your eCommerce store is prepared for the spike in gift orders and, inevitably, returns. Here are some tips for managing Valentine’s Day gift returns: 🤍Create a separate gift return policy: Outline the conditions for gift returns, such as the timeframe, condition of the product, and the return process. 🤍Automate your gift returns process: Automate gift returns with ReturnGO, so that gift recipients can discreetly return their gifts without the gift-giver knowing. 🤍Prepare your team: Make sure your customer service team is familiar with your gift return policy and process, so they can respond to customer inquiries promptly and professionally. 🤍Track your gift returns: Monitor the number of gift returns and the reasons for returns so you can spot ways to improve the gift return process and reduce costs. Make Valentine's Day a hassle-free experience by offering a smooth gift return process. #valentinesday2024 #giftreturns #ecommercereturns #returnsmanagement #valentinesday
