My dear friend Toby Bloomberg tagged me in this post about soft skills we can transfer to other jobs. What I find interesting is how little focus we put on soft skills until someone has an issue that needs to be addressed. True, hard skills - those skills needed to do the job - are easy to measure. Is the job getting done on time, on budget, accurately, etc.? Soft skills take more time to measure and who has time for that these days? How does your company think about and measure soft skills?

Ladies and Gentlemen, Have you ever experienced the frustration of not hearing back from a company after submitting your CV? It’s a common scenario that can be disheartening, especially when you know you have the skills and passion for the job. But here's a perspective: sometimes, the reason for silence is simply because you are overqualified. Being overqualified is not a setback; it's a testament to your achievements, dedication, and pursuit of excellence. It signifies the wealth of knowledge and expertise you bring, which might intimidate some employers. Yet, don't be discouraged. Let it ignite your determination and remind you of your worth. Every rejection is not a reflection of inadequacy but a sign of your extraordinary capabilities. You are a powerhouse of potential waiting for the right opportunity to unleash your brilliance. Remember, the perfect match will come – a place that recognizes your value beyond your CV's lines. Embrace your overqualification as a badge of honor. It signifies your journey, resilience, and commitment to self-improvement. Believe in your path, trust every experience is shaping you into a remarkable individual. Hold your head high, keep pushing forward, and continue striving for greatness. The world awaits your brilliance, and the right opportunity is on its way. Stay motivated, stay hopeful, and never forget your incredible worth. Thank you.

In my experience, I’ve encountered three levels of proficiency: 1. Individuals who claim they can do the work but lack the necessary skill. 2. Those who excel at the task but may not be particularly swift or efficient. 3. Rarely, individuals who both excel at the task and exhibit exceptional speed and efficiency. The number 3 people are the ones who usually are always hired. Have you ever worked with any of these people and what has been your experience? 👇🏼
