Perhaps it's the complexity of the challenge that inspires me: Our mission extends beyond simply engaging the youth. We recognize the critical support of adults in this educational journey. 💡 Bridging the Gap: Overcoming Stigma in Sexuality Education for Adults Sexual health is a critical aspect of overall well-being, yet it often carries a veil of stigma and misunderstanding. Many adults, including parents, teachers and youth workers, due to their own sexual biographies, might find themselves unprepared to guide young people in these matters. This lack of knowledge isn't a failing - it's a gap that Love Land aims to bridge. 💡 Inclusive Education: Empowering Open Conversations on Sexual Health By incorporating adults into our programs, we respect and acknowledge their experiences and limitations. We believe that education should include an environment where open, honest discussions about sexual health can flourish. The observance aims to promote and protect the rights of the world’s indigenous populations and to recognize their contributions to global culture, heritage, and the environment. Each year, the day focuses on a specific theme that highlights issues important to indigenous communities around the world. . The strength of the trees and the wisdom of the ancestors run through us, and that is why we will always stand strong - Navajo Proverb . It is essential to raise awareness about the unique cultures, traditions, and knowledge systems of indigenous peoples. Hence, this day is an opportunity to celebrate the rich cultural diversity of indigenous peoples around the world: festivals, traditional music and dance performances, and exhibitions showcasing indigenous art and crafts are common. This also encourages the adoption of policies that promote the well-being of indigenous peoples, including land rights, access to education, and health services. . When people can't respect bad men, they shouldn't force men to respect bad women. Good men should always be respected the way good women should be respected. Not being ready for gender neutral laws is not godliness at all. Everything shouldn't be women's choice if everything can't be men's choice. Putting the tag of bad over every male and the tag of good over every female is not fair. We need to care for males too, just like how we need to care for females. When harassing a female is not fair on the part of a male, harassing a male is not fair on the part of women as well. When a female files cases such as rape case, molestation case, sexual harassment case, or any other type of case of heinous acts against a male, arresting that male without doing investigation is not fair. Not letting men file even genuine cases of heinous acts against the women is not fair. Whichever punishment can be given to a man harassing a woman or any other man, that same punishment should also be given to a woman harassing a man or any other woman. One of the proudest moments of my career was also a reminder: the dream wasn’t complete. #InterSEXions remains one of my proudest creative moments. Yet, even as I reflect on its success, I know the idea fell short of what I truly had in mind. I dreamt of creating like God—with unlimited resources of time, characters, and budget. Back then, the project was titled #SixDegreesOfSeparation, a world where there were no “extras.” Because, in truth, in life, there are none. Everyone is the main character of their own story. I wanted the person crossing the street, barely noticed as our “main characters” argued in their car, to reappear as the protagonist of a later episode, in a different medium. A world where every life was interconnected, every story mattered, in every platform. Tim Kring, the creator of Heroes, gave me the term for what I was unknowingly reaching toward: #Transmedia. I don’t know if he coined the word, but he was the first to show me how stories could unfold across formats, platforms, and perspectives, creating an immersive, limitless experience. Unfortunately, budgets—and other constraints—kept that vision just out of reach. But today, with the tools we now have at our disposal, that dream feels more achievable than ever. I’ve been nurturing an idea that builds on the spirit of #InterSEXions—and goes far beyond it. A project that dares to imagine a future where no story, no character, no detail is too small to matter. A universe where every thread is interconnected, and the possibilities are as expansive as our imaginations. #InterSEXions showed what was possible within constraints. My next project will show what is possible when there are none. I can’t wait to share it with you. For now, I leave you with a word that holds a universe within it: #Marantu M👁R👁NTU. More to come. 🌶 Folks have been asking for the “hot takes” from the fabulous #QueeringYourCareer workshop Josh Silverman and I designed and delivered for the AIGA Design online conference last week, so here are the top 3: 🌈 1) SEEK YOUR OWN CONSENT FIRST. “I seek my own consent first” is our motto at Mandel Creative for a reason! At work, home, or school, too many of us say yes first, and grumble about it later, a condition which will NEVER allow us to show up as our best, most effective selves. 🌶 Repeat after me: If you consent to it, you won’t resent it. Also: you do get to change your mind. 💡 This is harder than it sounds, and requires a practice of listening closely to yourself, your needs and capacity. Start today. 🌈 2) Creativity is MAKING UNEXPECTED CONNECTIONS. Your deep, wonderful, weird areas of #nerdcore are YOUR creative competitive advantage. This is just as true for your own #CareerDevelopment and trajectory (generating new directions and possibilities) as it is for the creative problem solving you do on your teams at work and at school. 💡 What deep domain understandings do you have that you might consider bringing to your work life? 🌈 3) CONFIDENCE comes from EVIDENCE. For those of us from groups that are historically underrepresented, in business leadership and in the organizations and professions in which we seek to thrive, this is even more important because we often don’t have examples to follow, or incentive structures that reward our instincts. So WE have to set our own practical, measurable success criteria so we can MAKE OUR OWN EVIDENCE. And believe it. 💡 What would the evidence be that YOU are making tangible progress towards your own growth and development goals THIS season? 💡 What can you commit to doing TODAY or THIS WEEK such that when you sit down in January to evaluate what you’ve learned, you have the CONFIDENCE THAT COMES WITH EVIDENCE to decide what’s next? #QueerYourCareer #coaching
