And sometimes you know that you don't know, and you can find out. And sometimes you don't know that you don't know, and you then don't find out, because you didn't know you were supposed to. Everyone understands the first one. But the second one? That one you only learn when something goes wrong. And nobody wants anything to go wrong, ever. Especially bosses. However, the second one is the one that shows the gaps that need to be closed. It is an opportunity to update the SOP's and the training, an opportunity to improve the system. It is not an opportunity to shame your employees, or blame them. Choose wisely - for yourself as well.
