In the post-Covid landscape, the recruitment market has shifted significantly, leaning towards candidates who align with a company’s culture and environment, rather than just filling roles quickly. This shift aims to reduce attrition and enhance long-term stability, but it also brings challenges. To navigate these trends effectively, consider these strategies: ✅Collect Feedback from Leavers: Understanding their experiences can reveal crucial insights into workplace issues. If they don’t provide feedback, it’s a message worth investigating. ✅Engage with High Performers: Regularly talk to your top talent and long-serving employees to gauge their experiences and get their perspectives on what makes your company attractive to new candidates. ✅Document Your Culture: Ensure your company culture is well-defined and documented. Engage with employees, customers, suppliers, and other stakeholders to get a comprehensive view. ✅Refine Recruitment Strategies: Before posting job ads, review job descriptions to ensure they truly reflect your company’s vision, strategy, and culture. Avoid generic language and make sure your ads resonate with the core of your business identity. By aligning recruitment practices with your company’s values and culture, you can attract candidates who are not only qualified but also a perfect fit. #markbookerinsights #recruitment #workplaceculture #recruitmenttrends

The hardest challenge I face in the recruitment process is finding and attracting the right talent. Here’s why: Talent Shortage: Sometimes, the perfect candidates just aren’t out there. We’re looking for specific skills and experience, but the talent pool can be limited, making it tough to find someone who ticks all the boxes. Standing Out in a Crowded Market: It’s a competitive job market, and we’re not the only company trying to hire top talent. Candidates often have multiple offers, so we really have to work hard to make our organization stand out as the best option. Time Pressures: Hiring can be time-consuming, and when a position remains unfilled for too long, it puts pressure on the team and the company’s productivity. But at the same time, rushing the process can lead to hiring the wrong person, which creates even more challenges down the line. Building a Strong Employer Brand: In today's world, it’s not just about finding someone with the right skills. It’s about making sure they’re a good cultural fit and showing candidates why they should want to work with us. If our employer brand doesn’t resonate with the kind of people we want to attract, it can be a real uphill battle. Retention of New Hires: Even after finding the right person, the challenge doesn’t end. We need to make sure they’re happy and engaged so they don’t leave after a few months. It’s frustrating to invest time and effort into hiring someone, only to see them move on because the role or company wasn’t what they expected. Each of these challenges requires careful balancing. We need to attract the best candidates, move quickly without rushing, and ensure they’ll stay and thrive in the company long-term. It’s definitely not easy, but it’s what makes recruitment such an important role. Last week, I conducted a poll asking what the biggest issues were with current recruitment drives. The overwhelming response was... 💡 Inefficient recruitment processes 😑 Inefficient recruitment processes can lead to top candidates slipping away to competitors an at the same time harm your company’s reputation in the market. Which leads me to ask: What processes are inefficient that are preventing you from hiring the right talent? Speaking to some of my clients to get their perspective, this is what I got: 💎 Lack of budget means people not qualified to recruit are looking for talent. What this means is that more time is spent lookin for talent, jobs stay open longer and that has an effect on business goals due to lack of hiring. 💎 Timelines aren’t respected internally by hiring managers and decision makers which has a knock on effect wrt feedback. When this happens, the delay has a negative impact in attracting top talent because the experience to attract them isn’t at a great level and their experience means the company’s reputation takes a knock. How to fix this: 💎 Hire the right people to do the job, be it an internal team or agency partners with experience in your vertical and that everyone understands the need for full alignment to get the best talent. 💎 Make sure everyone understands their role in ensuring a great candidate experience and ensure they are held accountable, especially wrt time / feedback, in order to see better results. #Recruitment #TalentAcquisition #HR #Efficiency #CompanyReputation #TopTalent

📊 Candidate Expectations vs. Talent Acquisition Realities 💼 Recent data reveals that 45% of candidates expect to hear back from employers within 2-3 days, while another 45% prefer feedback within 24 hours! ⏳ As Talent Acquisition professionals, we understand the need for timely communication. It’s critical for maintaining a positive candidate experience. But is this feasible for companies? 🤔 While we'd love to provide instant feedback, the reality is that a thorough recruitment process requires time for fair assessments, aligning with hiring managers, and ensuring a comprehensive evaluation of each application. To bridge this gap, clear communication is key! Set expectations early, provide regular updates, and use automation to keep candidates informed. After all, a transparent process is always appreciated, even if it takes a bit longer. Let's continue refining our processes to create a more candidate-centric experience, without compromising on quality. #TalentAcquisition #Recruitment #CandidateExperience #HR
