🔓 Unlocking Sustainable Excellence: Lessons from Green Lean Kaizen 🌿 🏭 Recently, I had the privilege of attending a seminar focused on Green Lean Kaizen for Sustainable Manufacturing on September 16 2023. The event was a deep dive into the innovative strategies that can significantly reduce our environmental footprint while enhancing operational excellence in manufacturing processes. 🚂 A highlight for me was learning about the ingenious use of gravity for item transfer—a method that employs pendulum physics to move materials without electricity. Picture this: a small train on a rail, activated by the weight of material placed upon it, gracefully transporting the item to its destination. Once the journey concludes, the material exits the train, which then autonomously returns to its starting point, ready for another cycle. This simple yet profound application not only eliminates the need for electrical energy in item transfer but also stands as a testament to the sustainable ingenuity we can achieve by harmonizing with the natural laws of physics. 📗 This experience was further enriched by discussions on sustainability principles as outlined in Prof. Dr. Vincent Gaspersz's book, Green Lean Kaizen: Membangun Operasi Berkelanjutan dan Efisien. The book’s insights into building sustainable and efficient operations provided a robust framework for understanding how we can implement these innovative solutions in our industries. 🌳 The seminar was a reminder of the power of combining environmental consciousness with operational efficiency. As we strive towards sustainability in manufacturing, the principles of Green Lean Kaizen offer a guiding light on this journey, emphasizing that operational excellence and environmental stewardship are not just compatible, they are synergistically connected. 🎁 I left the seminar inspired and hopeful for the future of manufacturing, convinced that with the right approach, we can indeed create an industry that is not only efficient and productive but also harmoniously sustainable. #manufacturing #greenmanufacturing #greenmanufacture #leanmanufacturing #leansixsigma #leanmanagement #sustainable #sustainablemanufacturing #sustainablemanufacture #kaizen

Kaizen: More Than Just for Work We often hear about Kaizen in the workplace, but the concept of continuous improvement can easily be applied to our daily lives as well. Whether it’s adjusting our daily routines, improving our health, or strengthening our relationships, small changes over time can lead to significant results. Just like in the workplace, it’s about identifying areas for improvement and taking steady action, even if it’s just one small step at a time. In this video, I’d like to share my Kaizen experience with my daughter during the "Program Misi Al-Jazari: Eksplorasi KBAT Sains Peringkat Negeri Selangor" competition, three years ago. This competition focused on the 3Rs: Reduce, Reuse, and Recycle. Together, we successfully created Aquaposo, which is related to solar technology and the aquaponics system. As a father, I’m proud to see that the mindset I use at work can also support my daughter’s projects. We won the competition! #Kaizen #3R #Improvement #Lean #DXC #BenSensei

I’ve waited two years to do this post… Here’s my story in under 100 words…. - 10 years ago my business was in turmoil, I was stressed, overworked and miserable - I came across something called LEAN manufacturing (had never heard of it before) - Everyone told me it’s a Japanese based system that wouldn’t work in Northern Ireland - Struggled to implement it - Figured out how to implement it - Took our lean journey to the point where 1000’s of people travel from all over the world to see how we’ve done it (including the Japanese!) - Documented my journey and wrote a book to help and inspire others….. So yes, this is my “OFFICIAL BOOK LAUNCH” This is the book I wished I’d had 10 years ago… “Lean Made Simple - 12 Proven Steps for Creating a Vibrant Lean Culture” Available at leanmadesimple.com (link in comments 👇)

It is Friday and time for our next installment of our A-Z of Process Improvement and this week it is Y for Yokoten. Yokoten is a powerful principle in Lean manufacturing, promoting knowledge sharing and continuous improvement. Here's why it matters: ✔ Knowledge Sharing: Transferring successful practices from one area to another to replicate success. ✔ Cross-Functional Collaboration: Fostering teamwork and collaboration across departments. ✔ Standardisation: Establishing best practices as standard procedures for consistent performance. ✔ Scalability: Scaling successful initiatives across the organization for widespread impact. ✔ Continuous Improvement: Driving ongoing enhancement through shared learning and adaptation. In manufacturing, embracing Yokoten leads to a culture of innovation, efficiency, and excellence. www.fluere.co.uk - helping manufacturing directors create high performing factories by accelerating profits, increasing productivity and empowering teams.

What is "Kaizen"? Kaizen is the Japanese philosophy of continuous improvement, focusing on making small, incremental changes that add up over time. I'm deeply grateful for the opportunity to have learned directly from the late Masaaki Imai, one of the pioneers who brought Kaizen to the world. These powerful principles aren’t just for manufacturing—they’ve made a real impact in healthcare as well. Joe Swartz and I explored this transformation in our Shingo Award-winning book, "Healthcare Kaizen." Here are a few key Kaizen principles, along with some smiling faces from a hospital in Indiana where they’ve been embraced. #LeanHealthcare #Kaizen #ContinuousImprovement #HealthcareTransformation #Lean

"Chota kadam bhi bada badlaav la sakta hai - yeh hai #Kaizen ka mantra!" 💯 🔊Welcome to day 27 of our series: #Kaizen - Embracing the Power of Continuous Improvement 🌱🔄 Ever heard of Kaizen? Today let's explore the transformative #Japanese concept of KAIZEN (改善). 🇯🇵✨ #KAIZEN, which translates to "CHANGE FOR THE BETTER," is more than just a business strategy—it's a philosophy that can revolutionize both your professional and personal life. 💼 At its core, #Kaizen is about making small, incremental changes that compound over time to create significant improvements. It's not about drastic overhauls or overnight transformations, but rather the power of consistent, thoughtful tweaks. 🔍 #KeyPrinciples of Kaizen: 1. 👥 Everyone Involved: From CEOs to interns, every voice matters. 2. 📈 Small Changes, Big Impact: Minor adjustments can lead to major breakthroughs. 3. ♻️ Eliminate Waste: Identify and remove inefficiencies in processes. 4. 📊 Standardize Best Practices: Create repeatable, efficient processes. 5. 📉 Data-Driven Decisions: Use metrics to guide improvements. Real-world #Examples: • #Toyota's production system, which revolutionized manufacturing 🚗 • #Hospitals reducing wait times and improving patient care 🏥 • #Techcompanies iterating products based on user feedback 💻 #Applying Kaizen in Your Life: 1. 📝 Start a "Kaizen journal" to track daily improvements 2. 🎯 Set micro-goals that build towards larger objectives 3. 🔄 Establish regular review periods to assess progress 4. 🧠 Cultivate a growth mindset, embracing challenges as opportunities Remember, #Kaizen isn't about perfection—it's about progress. Every step forward, no matter how small, is a victory. 🏆 Challenge: #Share one small improvement you're committed to making this week. Let's inspire each other to embrace the Kaizen way! 🙌🏻 [This post is in collaboration with Dr. Supriya Goutam and Rupali Singh ] #Kaizen #ContinuousImprovement #PersonalDevelopment #BusinessStrategy #JapaneseConcepts #30DayChallenge #LinkedInLearning #ProfessionalGrowth #InnovationMindset #SmallWinsBigGains

Innovation is the driving force of every organization, yet many face the familiar hurdles of stagnant thinking and tendencies to jump into solutions too quickly. These obstacles, often fueled by a lack of imagination or a rush to implement quick fixes, can hinder progress. One effective approach to overcome these obstacles is through the practice of open innovation. By inviting people with fresh viewpoints from the outside, who look at your organisation’s challenge through new lenses, can be amazingly powerful in fostering creativity and problem-solving. I recently had the privilege of witnessing the transformative impact of open innovation, while leading an Open Innovation Challenge in collaboration with the Singapore Food Manufacturing Association. Our mission was to address the pressing challenges faced by food manufacturing companies in Singapore. To achieve this, we sourced the fresh perspectives of students from Singaporean Institutes of Higher Learning (IHLs). These bright minds immersed themselves in the roles of researchers and designers. We developed a step by step Design Thinking toolkit to empower participants to craft innovative solutions and offer valuable perspectives to the food manufacturing companies. By being open to new ideas and working together, the teams came up with creative ideas, addressing important problems. For me, this experience just reinforced how important it is to stay open-minded and collaborative, as we keep moving forward in the world of innovation. Thank you Nav Qirti, Shania Soh and Zixuan Li for such a wonderful cooperation and to all the participants for a great, dynamic week, full of learnings, exciting experiences and lots of fun along the way! #openinnovation #designthinking #consulting #innovationforimpact
