Graphite One Inc. (@graphiteoneinc) is making strides in its quest to establish a 100% US-based graphite supply chain. The company announced a revised contract with the Department of Defense (DoD), increasing the DoD's share of expenditures for Graphite One's accelerated feasibility study from 50% to 75%. 'This development in our planned 100% U.S.-based graphite supply chain demonstrates the momentum Graphite One is building,' said Anthony Huston, Graphite One CEO and President. 'We welcome the support of the Department of Defense as we continue our efforts to build a U.S. industrial capacity that serves the renewable energy transition, technology development, and national security.' The revised agreement raises the DoD's maximum contribution to $37.3M out of the $49.8M contract value. Graphite One aims to complete the feasibility study for its Graphite Creek deposit in Alaska by December 2024, subject to financing. With the U.S. currently relying entirely on graphite imports, Graphite One's initiative aligns with the Biden administration's goal of reducing China's dominance in critical minerals. The company plans to create a vertically integrated supply chain, encompassing mining, processing, manufacturing, and recycling graphite anode materials. #graphite #criticalminerals #EvSupplyChain @graphiteoneinc @whtehouse @dodnews

Kingsland Minerals Limited (ASX:KNG) is proud to announce a significant milestone in the development of its Leliyn Graphite Project in the Northern Territory, marking a transformative year for the company. The recently completed maiden Mineral Resource Estimate has confirmed Leliyn as the largest graphite deposit in Australia, and one of the largest globally, with an inferred resource of over 194 million tonnes at 7.3% Total Graphitic Carbon (TGC). This represents a significant achievement for Kingsland, further positioning the company as a key player in the global supply of critical minerals. Throughout the year, we also achieved substantial progress in metallurgical test work, with flotation tests producing graphite concentrates with grades exceeding 94% TGC and recoveries of over 80%. These excellent results demonstrate Leliyn's potential to produce high-quality graphite for the rapidly growing lithium-ion battery market. Importantly, the test work has laid the foundation for further optimization and a bulk sample to produce purified spherical graphite, a key precursor for battery anodes. Looking ahead, we have planned additional drilling to upgrade the inferred resources and advance metallurgical testing to further refine our processing capabilities. These efforts will culminate in a scoping study to assess the economic viability of establishing a flake graphite production facility in the Northern Territory, marking a major step forward for the project. We extend our gratitude to our shareholders for their unwavering support during these challenging market conditions. With Leliyn’s excellent growth prospects and Kingsland’s strong position in the critical minerals space, we are excited to continue unlocking value for all stakeholders in the year ahead. Cobalt market, net zero targets face 'urgent need' for new mine spending - BloombergBNEF says in Oct. 8 report Cobalt 2050. "The danger is that we slow down the energy transition," Kwasi Ampofo said. Ampofo says $1.7 billion in so far unplanned spending needed to meet net zero goals in Oct. 8 report. While cobalt in nickel-heavy chemistries continues to shed market share to other batteries, like LFP, it still has a place, analysts say. Kingsland Minerals Limited (ASX:KNG) is pleased to release its’ June 2024 quarterly report. The highlight this quarter was the production of commercial grade graphite concentrate, grading greater than 94% TGC (Total Graphitic Carbon). This result is an important milestone as it shows that Leliyn can produce a saleable product. Test-work is continuing and a larger sample of 150kg will be collected during the September quarter to produce a bulk concentrate sample for further test-work to produce battery grade spherical graphite. The positive metallurgical results justified an update of the Exploration Target for Leliyn and this now illustrates the considerable upside to the current Mineral Resource estimate. Leliyn is a globally significant graphite deposit. “This was a busy, productive quarter with excellent progress on the Leliyn Graphite Project. It was particularly pleasing to produce a graphite concentrate with a grade greater than 94% TGC. We are now looking forward to additional test-work to produce spherical graphite. The new Exploration Target re-positions Leliyn as one of the world’s largest graphite deposits. Each completed step is de-risking the project and positions us closer to our aim of producing quality graphite flake products and downstream processing of these products in Darwin.” Managing Director Richard Maddocks Bruno Seneque #KingslandMinerals #KNG #Graphite #Leliyn

Market Update - Rio Tinto’s $6.7 Billion Bid for Arcadium Lithium - a play for the Lithium Extraction Technology ⚡ While Rio Tinto’s bid for Arcadium has captured attention, the true value may lie in Arcadium’s innovative lithium extraction technology, rather than just its resources. Arcadium’s Direct Lithium Extraction (DLE) method is faster, more efficient, and far more environmentally friendly than traditional processes. It allows for higher lithium recovery rates while significantly reducing water usage—a critical advantage as the industry faces growing pressure to minimize environmental impact. In today’s mining sector, the companies that lead in technology will be the ones that stay competitive and sustainable in the long run. By integrating Arcadium’s breakthrough DLE technology, Rio Tinto could significatnly improve its operations and minimize its ecological footprint. This strategic move highlights that, in the race for critical minerals, innovation is as crucial as the resources themselves. #Lithium #RioTinto #Arcadium #InnovationInMining #Sustainability #MiningTech #CriticalMinerals

Go2Lithium - Lithium Extraction Working with a fully engineered and optimised process for Direct Lithium Extraction allows asset owners to move rapidly from bench-top units treating one to two litres per hour, to an automated demonstration plant capable of treating 200 to 500L per hour. G2L’s cDLE® technology provides the: 🔸 Highest lithium recovery; 🔸 Lowest chemical input cost; 🔸 Highest lithium eluate concentration; and 🔸 Fastest speed to production. The cDLE® performance attributes allow G2L to work with low lithium concentrations brines that have traditionally been seen as uneconomic. Using lithium-specific ion exchange resins in a continuous countercurrent process has broken that paradigm. Many brines in Canada, and the US with lithium contents in the 50 to 100 mg/L range are now available for economic extraction using cDLE®. G2L is looking to partner with other lithium asset owners, including oil and gas companies, to meet the rising global demand for lithium and deliver long-term value. Faster, cleaner, cheaper is right. We’re excited to deliver on the promise of direct lithium extraction to revolutionize the way #lithium is produced—benefitting our customers by making more resources viable in more locations, and getting projects online faster with excellent economics. This is not business-as-usual mining. Instead, our ion exchange technology enables high yields, including from low-grade brines, with minimal environmental impact. While the question, "Can direct lithium extraction scale?" still looms over the #DLE category, we are happy to say that we are on track with proven performance across multiple pilot and demonstration plants, and 70 brines around the world tested with excellent and consistent results. https://lnkd.in/efZDUvVK
