How quickly can you spot bot-generated content? I bet within 5-10 seconds, the time it takes to read the first few lines of text. Despite its skill in parsing data and summarizing lots of text, AI remains pretty terrible at creating a realistic voice and tone (no one uses phrases like "the content marketing abyss" -- something I actually read this week in content that was supposedly authored in first person). Whether you use AI to help with your first draft or your last, the risk is that your own voice and tone—as a brand, as an individual—will start to suffer as you unintentionally start to produce generic, lukewarm phrasing that frankly feels produced by a machine. Publish it, and its actually going to work against you.* If you as a marketer or business owner want to make an authentic human connections—the kind that inspires people feel intrinsically connected with your brand, and make decisions because of those connections—you'll need to dig deep and figure out what makes your voice and tone distinctively YOURS. And you'll need to infuse it into your content every. single. time. If this feels tricky...that's because it is! Our voice and tone is a unique fingerprint for who we are, and its tough to articulate that personality—particularly if you're trying to do it across an organization. But its something I personally love to do!
