When using the prototype pattern to reduce the number of classes, be cautious not to break the 'separation of concerns' principles. As always, it is not a rigid rule, and other factors should be considered. #prototype #designpatterns #designpattern #systemdesign

Build Break Learn Repeat
Don't beat yourself up if your desk is a mess. Prototyping isn't always organized and straightforward. Build, break, learn, repeat. As you're building, take notes on what needs improving. Only fix the things that need improving. Don't fix things that work but you wish were different. As you iterate through the design, you'll find the errors get smaller. Your device gets more reliable. The knowledge of the assembly process improves. Each time you reach a milestone and start on a fresh rebuild, keep your old prototype (if possible) so you can show the progression. Go out there and learn by building! #prototype

The product development process can be distilled down to 1. Design, 2. Prototype, 3. Test, and 4. Repeat until you get to the desired end product. I love designing, certainly enjoy prototyping and sewing, but testing is where the real fun can be had. This photo is from testing a small ski backpack and technical mid-layer I made out in Colorado's Tenmile Range. #industrialdesign #softgoods #prototyping #outdoorindustry
