The highlight was Physical Intelligence, an AI company focused on machine learning for robots and physical devices, which raised a $400 mn Series A at a $2.4 bn valuation led by Lux Capital and Thrive Capital, with participation from BOND and OpenAI. In the cryptocurrency space, Crytocoin, a cloud-mining platform, secured a $100 mn Venture Round backed by Nomad Capital and Sky9 Capital. TOTVS made headlines in Brazil with its acquisition of VarejOnline - Sistema de Gestão Empresarial, a comprehensive ERP system designed to manage various aspects of retail operations, for $8.5 mn. Token 2049 Day 1 Aakash Athawasya from the PYOR team joined the Investors Roundtable: Navigating Crypto’s Challenging Landscape, featuring top VCs: • Haseeb Qureshi (Managing Partner at Dragonfly) • Kyle Samani (Managing Partner at Multicoin Capital) • Avichal Garg (Co-founder of Electric Capital) • Vance Spencer (Co-founder and GP of Framework Ventures) Here are the key takeaways from the panel (that we thought were really interesting): 1. Focus on Decentralized Physical Infrastructure (DePIN): If they were starting over, the panelists agreed they would concentrate investments on high-potential projects in DePIN. Think projects blending the physical and digital worlds in sectors like energy, real estate, and hardware. 2. Target Emerging Markets with Liquidity: They highlighted the importance of investing in key markets like India and China. 3. Unlisted Tokens with Big Potential: The panel mentioned unlisted tokens with strong use cases—like Base and Telegram—that could see huge valuations down the road, even if they aren’t widely recognised yet.

Many found their investments from the last cycle tied up in projects, leading to a careful approach towards projects with steep valuations despite the existing #FOMO. There's a noticeable tilt towards "mid-sized" projects. 📢On a brighter note, angels are actively scouting for new investment avenues, preferring more liquid assets even with smaller commitments. A rising trend is the increasing presence of incubators and team members offering services in exchange for a project stake.
