Working with the health & care sector for a number of years has opened my eyes to the amazing job the people that look after our most vulnerable in society do. It is why 20 of us from Howden Health & Care will be walking 34km of the Jurassic Coast to raise awareness and much needed funds for two great charities… The Care Workers' Charity support the almost 2 million care workers in the UK, contributing to one of the largest workforces. They care for some of the most vulnerable people in our society with little recognition and often no reward. Care workers face challenges every day such as loss of income, inconsistent hours, consequences of low recruitment and retention and lack adequate resources to help care workers do their job to the best of their ability. Ickle Pickles are the smallest and sickest babies who need intensive care in neonatal units. There are over 90,000 babies born sick or prematurely in the UK every year. One in thirteen babies are born prematurely. Ickle Pickles can be a full term babies (40 weeks) requiring treatment or surgery or more likely babies born prematurely (before 37 weeks). Babies born before 27 weeks are classed as extremely premature and it is often these tiniest babies who need the most help. Since 2009, the Ickle Pickles Children's Charity has been raising money for the intensive care equipment that treats these babies and helps to keep them alive. Starting at Corfe Castle then along the Purbeck Ridge down to Lulworth Cove and on past the iconic Durdle Moor with some steep ups & downs en route. An elevation of c.1,100m apparently. To be honest I get tired just thinking about it. I am posting this to ask for your support in helping us raise as much as possible for these two worthwhile causes. If you are able to donate please use the link below. Anything you can spare would be really appreciated. #careworkers #charity #healthandcare

Today is an important day for hospices everywhere - and we need your help. Today, MPs will debate hospice funding in the House of Commons. This is a crucial moment for hospice charities across England, with so many facing a funding crisis as costs soar. Can it be right that hospices have to raise 70, 80 or even 90% of their own running costs in order to provide care for people at the end of the lives? We’re asking for funding to be fair and equitable so that people across our county and our country can access specialist, compassionate care when they’re dying. Could you message your MP today to ask them to help protect Hospiscare and local hospices nationwide? #hospices #parliament #healthcare #hospiceuk

Did you know that this week is #HospicecareWeek? More importantly, did you know that Weldmar Hospicecare raises more money through our chain of charity stores that we recieve from the NHS? That's right. Second hand clothes, recycled furniture and children's toys raise more than twice the amount of money than we recieve from the NHS. Imagine any other health care service that relies on selling second hand goods to fund dignified and compassionate person centred care. Last year 1,129,564 items were sold in our charity shops - without which, our services would look very different. Why is raising awareness of this important. Well, it's twofold. Firstly, it's important that people support their local charity shops. Donate, browse and buy - it keeps vital services on the road and adds such value to a challenging highstreet. But secondly, because allowing charities, and in this case hospices, to rely on second hand sales to fund vital care services is not sustainable. Change needs to happen and hospices need to be funded fairly and sustainably. Write to your MP. Ask them to meet with us and Hospice UK to discuss the scale of the challenges facing hospice care services right now. Let's drive change together! https://lnkd.in/ePf-G7Pi #Hospice #Hospicecare #Charity #ThirdSector

Comic Relief has raised more than £1.6 billion over the years. A magnificent achievement for good causes. Yet still we have child poverty, cost of living crisis, energy cost crises, and many public services struggling to meet demand for their services. NHS Charities collectively raise millions for that great cause. Yet still we have 7.5 million on NHS waiting lists, queues for a NHS dentist, and waiting times for GP appointments, and treatments. Clearly, despite the great efforts by so many people, charity alone is not the answer. As a nation, we need a greater commitment from central government, to public services and our health services. Charity alone is not enough.

This June, we're bringing back our #HealthyCities steps challenge! A 30-day challenge, designed to get our people moving and improve their health, whilst raising money for charity. Our goal is to each walk 6,000 steps - or equivalent wheelchair pushes - every day to release funds for Bupa's Green Community grants, which help local schools and charities make their spaces greener and cleaner. The more we move, the more money we'll release! Holly, our Health and Wellbeing Partner, said: "The Healthy Cities 30-day steps challenge has such a positive impact because getting out and getting our daily steps in is good for our physical and mental health. It's good to know that you can complete a challenge, and it's a meaningful activity to participate in because you know you're doing good!" Stay tuned for updates on how our teams are getting on throughout the month 👏 #BupaDentalCare #Dentistry #DentalCare #HealthyCities #BupaHealthyCities #HealthAndWellbeing #LoveWorkingHere

#CharitySubtypes #AdvancingHealth When the Australian Charities and Not-for-profits Commission register an organisation, its charity ‘subtypes’ are publicly registered. These reflect the category of that organisation’s charitable purpose, which is what its activities will work towards achieving. Each subtype has a specific meaning under the law. The subtype for discussion today is Advancing Health. Advancing health includes *preventing and relieving sickness, disease or human suffering* (but is not limited to these). Some examples of charities advancing health: ✔️ Hospitals, ambulance services, nursing services ✔️ Family planning and support services ✔️ Medical research bodies ✔️ Associations, foundations and support groups for people with particular illnesses or diseases ------- ℹ️ Accountants, Lawyers & Advisors ℹ️ Do your clients enquire about Charities/NFPs? Honoring Our Seniors the Importance of Charity for Elderly Care Around 52% of the elder populations in India are living in poverty and poor health problems. In this technological world, they became very backward without having any knowledge about technology. So they’re dependent on working hard for their daily earnings, they’re physically very weak. Thus charity organizations are made to help and raise them and also to give them hope to live.
