I just found out that aspirational data training AI is challenged by bias. Um….yeah…..duh?🙃 (Ok to still use duh?) AI is literally changing every form of our research and communication (and more)…so why not fix aspirational data to KNOW our aspirations?🧠 Start by figuring out your own aspirations. No one else knows them….especially AI. Yesterday I spoke with two women who gave me beautiful visions of their goals. “In three years I want to move to Europe and travel to a different city each 3 months. I’ll generate income through fractional work and plan to grow old as an explorer.” “I want to send my future grandkids to a special summer camp that meant the world to me and my kids.” Beautiful. Personal. Aspirations. What are yours?

Welcome, Annika S.! We're thrilled to introduce our newest intern, Annika, who joins us with a strong background in computational linguistics. Annika recently completed her Master's degree from Brandeis University after pursuing her undergraduate studies in Linguistics at the University of Toronto. She recently interned at a Retrieval Augmented Generation-focused startup where she analyzed input data through various machine learning techniques such as unsupervised clustering to improve user experience and product consistency. At Latent AI, Annika is helping to expand the capabilities of our LEIP Benchmark tool to encompass Large Language Models (LLMs). This ambitious project aims to develop an automated system for performance comparison of LLMs across diverse hardware platforms and with different optimization settings. This will enable Latent AI to generate a database comparing the latency, throughput, power, and memory requirements of many popular models, allowing our customers to better integrate language models into edge applications. We are excited to have Annika on board. Stay tuned for future updates on her progress at Latent AI! #LatentAI #InternSpotlight #ComputationalLinguistics #LLMs #EdgeComputing

Culture Add ✅ Culture Fit ❌ That's the culture definition of Google. Very often, we tend to limit ourselves to groups and people who share the same values and opinions as us. What happens at the end? You stop learning, growing and seeking diverse opinions. This is true in computer science as well, there are people who believe in the power of AI and there are those who are oblivious to it. One thing that's personally helped me is forcing myself to listen to opposing opinions. Attend conferences, talks that don't exactly match with your thoughts, and think about it with an open mind. Remember, having people agree with you is a great feeling, I love it too, but its a short term reward and will bite you in the back, when you're no longer keeping up with new ideas. Thoughts? #share #bias #culture #ai #engineering

Yesterday I had the privilege in participating on The Enterprise Programme 'Dunk n' Discuss: AI in Action' discussion which is a monthly roundtable in The Hive, where this time we dived into the fascinating world of Artificial Intelligence. As part of my internship, I support the programme's events in order to enhance engagement but this also allows me to enrich my knowledge in various business topics. We were joined by a group of various individuals who were either experts on the topic or wanted to learn more about it and for 2 hours we talked vigorously about how AI is affecting communities and businesses. Here are some highlights of the conversation: - The impact of AI GPTs. - How the UK Government is reacting to the growth of AI. - Can AI ever be blameable? - The benefit of AI in businesses. - The effect of AI in communities and of an individual's mental health. After this event I definitely came out of the room more informed about what is AI and how we can use it responsibly as well as thinking about this broad topic in ways i have never before. It was the highlight of my week! I encourage everyone to tag along to our next 'Dunk n' Discuss' in November where we will be discussing 'Business for Good'. #AIinbusiness #AI #DigitalDisruption #Business

Hello everyone! 👋 I know I’ve been MIA on LinkedIn for a while—caught up in the whirlwind of college life. Lately, though, I’ve found myself diving deep into some technical concepts. And no, this isn’t just my excuse for not staring at the wall and questioning why I lost that one FIFA game to my friend, or pondering why humans exist, or worrying about how I’ll land that next internship. Definitely not. 😅 Some friends have told me I have a unique way of explaining concepts—engaging, simple, and full of analogies—but I never really believed them. Now, I’m giving it a shot by sharing these insights more publicly by starting a Medium series! 📚 I’ll be posting twice a week, on Mondays and Thursdays, about some topics close to my heart and studies: Machine Learning, Problem-Solving, and Branding. If you’re up for some wisdom (and maybe some laughs or even existential crises), feel free to check them out on my Medium profile! ✨ First Article Alert! ✨ Do you know the difference between humans and machines? Not that humans have free will (or do we?), but they try to reduce their biases, while machines? They depend on theirs to function! 🤖 For all the ML enthusiasts, my first article dives into something that’s puzzled me: why do we need biases in neural networks instead of just relying on weights and activation functions? I mean, we often hear that biases “shift activation thresholds” and “improve model accuracy”—but what does that really mean, especially if you’re new to ML? So, if you’re into simplified, engaging, humorous explanations (with real-life analogies, of course!), give it a read. Can’t wait to hear what you think! Stay tuned for more, and thanks for coming along on this new adventure with me. 🚀 #MachineLearning #ArtificialIntelligence #DataScience #NeuralNetworks #ProblemSolving #Branding #MediumWriters #TechExplained #LearningJourney #MLForBeginners #StayTuned #LinkedInCommunity #CareerGrowth #EngagingLearning #AIExplained
Zebra Vs Dalmatian Dogs: Why do we need biases and don’t just adjust the weights in Neural Networks?
