During my recent interview, a recruiter told me: "We cannot consider freelance experience because it's in your comfort zone, and corporate environments are more disciplined. We're looking for someone with corporate experience who can work well with people." Regarding freelancing, I believe it requires more discipline since you manage everything independently, needing strong communication and management skills. You meet different clients with different expectations and if you don't perform well, you'll loose them. Unlike full-time jobs, where non-performing employees sometimes still get promoted with corporate politics, freelancing demands consistent performance. I explained how my experience aligned with their needs and shared my working process and assignment, which convinced him. I was then shortlisted for the final discussion. In the final round, the senior interviewer was very casual, sitting with his legs on the desk, eating snacks, and not even looking at the screen. (corporate disciplines) as if he doesn't care about this and its only the candidate who requires the job Despite this, I remained formal to avoid any negative impression. After our discussion, he agreed to hire me but required a 5-day onsite trial. This made me realize that no matter how much effort I put in, this company would always question my ability. So I decided to not move forward with this to save myself from future damages. It'd be really helpful if hiring people start showing some respect towards the candidate #hiring #corporate #companies #joboffer #freelancers #discipline

Hi Freelancers or anyone who's seeing this post. I'm a makeshift HR of a creative agency startup and I wanted just two minutes of your time. Do I have your attention? In the past month or so, we have been trying to find applicants to fill out several vacancies. In that period, we have had many applicants, like really a lot. And I want to thank most of them for the time and effort they put into sending in their applications. Why most? Because for some, sending in applications is sort of like a game and it really shines a bad light on your professionalism. We have had applicants send in just their CV with no subject line or body text in the email. We have had applicants who sent in applications to a bunch of recruiters the same exact mail and didn't even bother to BCC it. We have had applicants submit absolutely no work sample, relevant or not in their job applications. We have had applications where applicants have submitted their profiles without mentioning their charges. I'm not posting this to shame anybody, you do you, however, you please. But just remember, this amount of carelessness and casual approach was shown by the same organisations you are applying for, there would be heads rolling on these virtual streets. The point that baffles me is, if you care so little about the opportunities that are available, why apply at all? Why put yourself out there? Isn't it wiser to just wait for opportunities that excite you and put your 100% towards them? For anybody reading this far, we're still looking for candidates. If you have experience in real estate or medical content, kindly share your samples and charges with us at tsoacdigitalservices@gmail.com #hiring #hiringwriter #hiringfreelancewriter #freelancewriter #jobs #writingjobs #hiringwriters #jobapplication #realestatewriter #medicalwriter #freelancerealestatewriter #freelancemedicalwriter #applyasmedicalwriter #applyasrealestatewriter #noAIwrittencontent

Spelling and Grammar (SPAG) But does anyone care in 2024? I hear people say: "Don't worry if you don't get it right...it's all about the story." I'm not so sure 🧐 Here's a video I outsourced last year. I wanted to see what an external editor on Fiverr could do for next to no money. As you can see, the video is littered with grammatical errors and typos. But the thing is...do you actually care? *** Comton Group Limited are a specialist recruitment agency who work with Metal, Manufacturing and Engineering Businesses in the UK. Why Are Freelancers Overlooked in Job Interviews? It’s a common scenario: A candidate with freelancing experience steps into an interview, only to hear, “We need someone fully committed—no freelancing or side gigs.” But here’s the real question—if someone has built and grown their own freelance business, managed diverse clients, and consistently delivered high-quality results independently, aren’t they exactly the type of self-motivated, resourceful professional every organization needs? Freelancers often face these misconceptions: ❌ “You can’t juggle both.” ❌ “We need your undivided attention.” ❌ “Freelancers aren’t team players.” The reality? ✔️ They solve complex challenges with creativity and efficiency. ✔️ They’ve mastered time management by handling multiple clients and tight deadlines. ✔️ They thrive in fast-changing environments, adapting to new tools, trends, and client needs. Freelancers apply for full-time roles not because they want to keep “doing their own thing,” but because they’re ready to grow, collaborate, and channel their energy into something bigger. They bring entrepreneurial grit, adaptability, and a problem-solving mindset that can transform teams. So, why turn away candidates who’ve proven they can excel under pressure and thrive in dynamic environments? It’s time to reimagine how we value freelancing in hiring. These candidates might just be the most driven, innovative talent you’ve been looking for. #FreelancersAreDriven #JobSearch #DigitalMarketing #HiringSolutions #GrowthMindset #FreelancePower #freelancing #graphicdesigner #branding #logodesigner

Why Do We Overlook Freelancers in Job Interviews? It’s a common scenario: a candidate with freelancing experience walks into an interview, and the employer says, “We need someone fully dedicated to us—no side projects or freelancing.” But here’s the thing: if someone has built their own freelance business, managed multiple clients, and found ways to make things work independently, aren’t they exactly the type of person you’d want on your team? Freelancers face this all the time. They’re told: ❌ “You can’t do both.” ❌ “We need you 100% focused on us.” ❌ “Freelancers aren’t team players.” But in reality: ✔️ They’ve been hustling on their own, solving real business problems. ✔️ They’re used to juggling projects and deadlines—sounds like great time management to me. ✔️ They’ve constantly adapted to new tools, trends, and client needs. Freelancers apply for full-time jobs because they want to grow, be part of something bigger, and bring that same energy into your organization. They’re not looking to “do their own thing” on the side—they’re eager to contribute and succeed with you. So, why block out candidates who’ve proven they can thrive in dynamic, challenging environments? Let’s rethink how we view freelancing experience in the hiring process—it might just bring you the most driven, innovative team members. #DigitalMarketing #Freelancer #HiringProblems #JobSearch #FreelancersAreDriven #Growth
