We can do it better! Diversity is not just a buzzword – it´s one of the most crucial factors in leadership today, and it´s importance will only grow in the future. The discussion about female board members and women in leadership positions has dominated the Danish media lately, but diversity and equality extend far beyond that. It is about creating a culture that embraces diversity in all it´s forms.
When discussing the issue of achieving diversity, the dilemma arises of implementing quotas for women on boards versus letting diversity evolve naturally. I believe an inclusive environment is essential for creating genuine diversity. It's about creating a culture where different perspectives are valued, and where everyone has equal opportunities to contribute and advance.
8 out of 10 board positions in Danish business are held by men. In 2022, men accounted for 81% of registered board members in Danish companies. This gender ratio has remained unchanged from 2014 to 2022. In Solteq Plc, 3 out of 7 board members in 2024 are women. But as mentioned, diversity is about a lot more than that. Diversity is about representation of different groups, fairness is about ensuring fair treatment for all, and inclusion is about creating an equal community. Diversity is where we are all different, and this is something we should embrace as a company.
Diversity cover areas such as ethnicity, religion, belief, physical abilities, disabilities, gender, gender identity, sexual orientation, age, social background, economic background, abilities, education and the way we think and act. In the workplace, diversity is about creating a space where all differences are valued. A diverse workplace is not only a moral obligation, but also a company advantage.
I believe that inclusion and diversity benefits companies in several ways. A diverse workforce promotes better decision-making and innovation, attracts and retains talented employees, and builds a positive reputation both internally and externally. Overall, an inclusive culture enhances the company's competitiveness and dynamics.
Let's continue promoting diversity and inclusion together, not just as words, but as an actual part of our work culture. Let's create an environment where everyone feels seen, heard, and valued. Let's work together to find this balance and create a future where diversity and equality are natural.
