🎅 In extra festive news, the December algo core update rolls out just weeks after the November update finished. It's pretty common that an update is rolled out and then there's a level of reversion but it's extremely uncommon for Google to actually announce it, although they haven't specified it is a reversion: • We've seen some a lot of fluctuation in SERP's, reversing ranking changes we saw in November. • Intent in SERPs is wildly erratic, in November we saw traditional commercial queries get littered with informational comparison articles, this has stabilised with some SERPs returning to commercial intent. • SERP features are in disarray, there are anywhere between 1 & 5 features on majority of SERPs pushing pure play organic even further down the page. https://lnkd.in/eRx6kz_n

Google’s November 2024 update regarding site reputation abuse shifts focus to treating subsections of sites as standalone entities. https://lnkd.in/d5XdAa57 The idea? No more riding on site-wide authority. Each section has to prove its worth on its own. But how does this play out? A marketplace section on a strong e-commerce site could lose rankings if its content quality isn’t up to par? Same goes for educational content? A blog with solid expert posts in one section but weaker lower quality posts in another—those weaker parts may not get a free pass anymore. It sounds fair in theory, but I don’t really know how strict or consistent this will be in practice.

Today we released the November 2024 core update to Google Search. This update is designed to continue our work to improve the quality of our search results by showing more content that people find genuinely useful and less content that feels like it was made just to perform well on Search. This has been added to our Search status dashboard at https://lnkd.in/ezpkZUJw and will be updated when the rollout is complete. For more information about core updates, please see https://lnkd.in/gjkpgQxy The rollout may take up to 2 weeks to complete.

Fluctuations in website SEO performance are normal... don't panic! I've seen this many times before. It's very common for those who don't work with websites to see a decline in SEO performance & immediately ask questions & panic, but the reality is there are so many contributing factors out of your control. The truth is, you're not simply competing against rival businesses, but also ever changing algorithms, software updates & trends. Yours won't be the only website impacted by updates. Don't panic. Assess the data. Take action.

New Post: Did Google Hit Forbes Advisor With A Search Penalty Over Site Reputation Abuse? - https://lnkd.in/gseg4icv - Google may have hit Forbes Advisor with a manual action, downgrading its rankings over maybe the site reputation abuse policy. Lars Lofgren wrote about this marketplace, as he put it, on September 18th and then a week or so later, it looks like it was hit by a Google manual action. - #news #business #world #jobs #school #passion
