Excited to learn from Márcio Coelho at Buller School of Business - Providence UC. During our last week class of Human Resource Management with Strategic Approach. One of the topics pointed was the challenges organizations face during and after Covid19, particularly in evolving workplace strategies. Human resource managers had to innovate new strategies on how employees should work and still be productive. Now theses days the concept of “work from home” has come more usual and the “hybrid” work is very common, employees have flexibility and work-life balance, feeling less stress and more comfortable working from home. However, HR managers still deal with unique productivity challenges such as distractions, feelings of isolation and difficulty of maintaining a clear boundary between home and work.

Recently, I came across two opinions that I strongly disagree with. While I won’t name anyone specifically, these perspectives need addressing: 1 One suggested that employees should work more than 70 hours per week. 2 Another claimed employees should work 90 hours per week. To those holding such views, I’d like to offer some constructive advice: Rather than focusing on excessively long working hours, prioritize improving employee satisfaction. When employees feel valued through fair policies, competitive compensation, and a supportive work environment, they are naturally more engaged and productive. Satisfied employees consistently deliver outstanding results, even during regular working hours. This approach fosters sustainable growth without compromising work-life balance or morale. Let’s aim for a culture that respects employees’ time while driving the company toward its goals effectively.
