We are thrilled to announce the launch of our new interdisciplinary undergraduate programme in Philosophy, Politics, and Economics (PPE), a groundbreaking initiative designed to foster critical thinking, global awareness, and effective leadership. This unique programme is being jointly offered by the Jindal School of Liberal Arts and Humanities and the Jindal School Of Government and Public Policy, representing a significant milestone in our university's dedication to cutting-edge, cross-disciplinary education. The programme was officially inaugurated by Dr. Shashi Tharoor, who honored us as the Chief Guest. In his thought-provoking keynote address, Dr. Tharoor traced the historical evolution of the PPE programme, which originated in the 1920s at Oxford University, and underscored its enduring relevance. He emphasized that the interdisciplinary nature of PPE equips future leaders with the knowledge and skills needed to engage deeply with the most pressing issues of our time. We were also privileged to have Prof. (Dr.) C. Raj Kumar, our esteemed Vice Chancellor, and Dabiru Sridhar Patnaik, the Registrar of JGU, join us for this momentous occasion. Their visionary leadership has been instrumental in bringing this innovative programme to life, and their ongoing guidance will continue to shape the future of education at JGU. Prof. Modrowski, Dean of JSLH, and Prof. Sudarshan, Dean of JSGP, also shared their insights and vision for the PPE programme. Both expressed their excitement about the potential of this interdisciplinary approach to equip students with the intellectual tools needed to address today’s complex, interconnected challenges. The programme combines the rich traditions of philosophy, the practical realities of politics, and the analytical rigor of economics, offering students a uniquely comprehensive framework for understanding and shaping the world. The launch event was a celebration of our shared commitment to empowering the next generation of leaders. By integrating the insights and methodologies of these three disciplines, the PPE programme will equip students with the intellectual agility needed to tackle the multifaceted challenges of a rapidly changing world. We are delighted to announce the #update of #The #IFSAM #Congress #2024: Our #Round #Table #2 titled “The Changing Form and Purpose of Higher Education Institutions: How to Maintain Impact in a Precarious World” has been #settled! Description: Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) as organizations are facing changes in their formats and purposes. In particular, some authors name new formats as “The Neoliberal University” (Fleming, 2020), in which collegiality is facing the challenges of managerial controls. In this sense, in some HEIs, the number of administrative staff is growing whereas the number of professors is decreasing. The teaching load is growing to the detriment of research time. Moreover, distance learning (DL) and artificial intelligence are changing the methods of education and, hence, HEIs’ formats. For instance, Vitru (vitru.com.br) in Brazil with over 900k students in pure DL is probably the largest HEI of this kind in the world. Manifestation goes a long way! ✨ I am extremely delighted to share that I have commenced the Masters in Behavioural Science program under the LSE Department of Psychological and Behavioural Science at The London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE). As I sat through my induction this week, it reminded me of all the times I dreamed of being part of this cohort. It has been a surreal experience, to say the least—overwhelming yet calming at the same time. Behavioural Economics has always had a special place in my heart as it integrates two of my favourite fields! My interest in BeSci was sparked during my undergraduate studies in Business Administration at O.P. Jindal Global University (JGU). It was during a conversation with Prof. Amlan Das Gupta that I first set my sights on LSE. Your guidance was instrumental in shaping my academic path, and I’m grateful for your advice, which ultimately led me here. My journey hasn’t been solitary. I am deeply thankful to everyone who supported me along the way. A special shoutout to those who painstakingly reviewed and helped me perfect the numerous drafts of my Statement of Purpose— Dipesh Puri Goswami, Veda Poduval: your feedback was invaluable. My biggest support system and role model throughout this journey has been Aayushi Prasad. Your contributions played a crucial role in my acceptance, and I wouldn’t have achieved this without your guidance. I also want to extend a heartfelt thanks to my parents, family, and friends, whose unwavering support has been my foundation. You’ve been there through the highs and lows, always encouraging me to pursue my passion.
