Another very enjoyable event in Rochester on Wednesday, hosted by Medway Council to launch the latest phase of their Shared Prosperity Funding. Anyone based in Medway can apply for assistance in the three nominated categories; Pride In Place, People & Skills and a Feasibility Fund and there are generous levels of support available for successful applicants. If you would like to discuss your project with the dedicated Medway SPF team, they can be contacted at MedwayUKSPF@medway.gov.uk. The event was very well supported and the audience consisted of a wide selection of people active in the Medway area, from those organising community groups or involved in community care, those interested in green energy and the environment, through to a variety of straightforward business and commerce - and everything in between! One of the most notable outcomes was that, having all been assembled in the same room, it was amazing how people with outwardly quite disparate areas of interest suddenly started talking about shared aims and collaborations. If ever there was a perfect example of how the world works much better when people actually come together and talk to each other face-to-face, this was it, so well done Medway Council. I look forward to attending more of your planned events in the future. And finally, therefore, a plea to everyone; remember that we are all social animals and can achieve much more when we work together!! The introduction of the NiuCare policy in Papua New Guinea was marketed as a groundbreaking initiative to support workers and ensure their access to healthcare. But let's face the facts: this policy seems more like a veiled attempt to exploit employers already struggling under the weight of skyrocketing inflation, rising operational costs, and an unstable economic environment. Is the government so disconnected from the realities of doing business in PNG? Employers are already burdened by existing obligations such as taxes, mandatory contributions, and inflated costs of goods and services. Adding another layer of compulsory payments under the guise of the NiuCare policy is not just tone-deaf—it’s reckless. The government’s failure to address inflation and the broader economic crisis means that employers, especially SMEs, are being squeezed from all sides. Businesses are forced to choose between meeting these additional costs or laying off employees, which ultimately defeats the policy's purpose of improving worker welfare. And what’s worse? The implementation of NiuCare has been riddled with questions about transparency and efficiency. Where is the accountability to ensure these funds genuinely benefit workers? How does this policy align with the reality that many employees already struggle with poor wages and limited job opportunities? It’s high time the government revisits its priorities. Instead of creating policies that suffocate employers, they should focus on addressing inflation, fostering economic growth, and creating an environment where businesses and employees can thrive together. PNG needs genuine solutions, not quick-fix policies that look good on paper but wreak havoc in practice. Employers and business communities must speak up! Policies like NiuCare may sound noble, but when poorly thought out, they only deepen the economic divide.

UPCEA members are often the advocates and aggregators for credential innovation on their campuses, as those flexible learning opportunities are often noncredit or certificate-centric, and usually online, avenues pioneered by our online and professional community. To help institutions better advocate for the resources needed for a successful, holistic micro-credentialing strategy, UPCEA engaged in a grant-funded project entitled Building Capacity, Expanding Pathways: Accelerating the Growth of Credential Innovation, which focused on research and peer mentoring for a consortium of ten UPCEA members to build credential-building capacity, specifically the co-creation of a new credential with an employer. This is #Bittersweet. We're proud to have facilitated $1MM in #AccessToCare so far this year...BUT that number surely means there are many thousands of bi-state #KansasCity-area residents whose needs remain unmet. Please support AccessKC by liking, commenting, or reposting so more #Tireless, #Compassionate staff in #SocialServices, #Health, and #Education can learn about AccessKC and connect the individuals they serve to our #OneOfAKind program. I'm #Grateful to our #Hardworking team, as well as the 200+ staff at the 60 partner nonprofits that issue our vouchers and the teams at our 129 vendor locations where AccessKC vouchers get redeemed. #OneMillionDollars #ThankYou #Tenacity #TeamEffort #HealthCare #EmergencyDentalCare #PermanentDentures #Partials #DME #Prescriptions #Medication #OpticalCare #EyeExams #Glasses #WaitUntilNextYear
A Milestone in Access: $1 Million in Services 🎉 We’re excited to share that AccessKC has reached an incredible milestone this year, facilitating access to $1 million in essential services. This achievement reflects the collective effort of our community and partners who champion pathways to access and opportunity for all residents of the bi-state Kansas City region. Let’s continue setting even bigger goals and expanding access together! #HealthcareAccess #MakingADifference #ImpactMilestone #AccessToCare #PartneringForChange
