In partnership with the African Medicines Regulatory Harmonization Initiative, @USAIDGH's MTaPS program has released a new advocacy brief urging health stakeholders to prioritize the registration of medical products for maternal, newborn, and child health (MNCH). Despite global strides, maternal, newborn, and child mortality rates remain unacceptably high across Africa. Poor access to essential medicines, vaccines, and medical devices is a critical factor. Barriers to product registration, overseen by National Regulatory Authorities (NRAs), further limit access to lifesaving medical products. This advocacy brief urges NRAs, ministries of health, donors, and civil society to prioritize MNCH product registration to ensure access to lifesaving products, improve care, and prevent avoidable deaths. The Baylor Global TB Program is proud to support the BETTER Project, a global partnership of researchers, caregivers, and advocates dedicated to developing and deploying evidence-based strategies for compassionate and comprehensive TB care. Their focus includes all forms of TB, especially those resistant to newer and repurposed drugs. As a learning network, they are committed to generating and disseminating knowledge and data for immediate action. This field guide, a key part of the initiative, brings together insights from RR/MDR-TB survivors and healthcare workers in countries where resistance to newer and repurposed agents is increasing. It offers real-world experience and expert opinions on optimized practices, recognizing the need for ongoing social, nutritional, psychological, and emotional support at all stages of care. On May 22, we provided a submission to the Standing Committee on Health outlining Neighbourhood Pharmacies position and considerations regarding Bill C-64, An Act respecting pharmacare. We commend the federal government for their commitment to ensuring all Canadians have access to contraceptives and diabetes medications. This is an important to step in the implementation of national pharmacare that will improve the health of Canadians   We encourage the federal government to consider a federal pharmacare model that: - Takes an equitable approach to removing barriers to drug access in Canada - Prioritizes those currently uninsured - Builds on a robust minimum national formulary that meets or exceeds existing provincial public coverage - Protects access to critical healthcare services - Collaborates with the province and territories   The contribution of community pharmacy in the dialogue shaping national pharmacare is crucial.
