Overt, clear, explicit, and unequivocal support for and endorsement of violence and terrorism in the name of “resistance” in the United States is the absolute most anti-Palestinian form of activism that one could do. “By all means necessary,” coupled with banners that literally say “Long live October 7” in Arabic, leave no room for what has been known for some time now: fanatic, pro-Hamas, pro-Hezbollah, pro-violence extremists have taken an oversized role in the “pro-Palestine” movement, severely undermining and harming the very cause they allege to care about. These voices must be jettisoned, isolated, undermined, and separated from real and genuine activism to promote Palestinian rights. This will require proactive efforts by the mainstream voices within the pro-Palestine movement to speak up and out. Palestinian, Arab, and Muslim-American organizations have a role in ensuring that pro-Palestine advocacy is not taken over by violent extremists who are the worst possible activists and risk sabotaging the entire movement, making the Palestinian cause even more radioactive and toxic than it already is. If this continues unchallenged, Palestinian voices and pro-Palestine solidarity will also continue to be ignored, suppressed, and not taken seriously. https://lnkd.in/eXHqJBxc This excellent report delves into the intensifying Islamophobia in the UK, highlighting the systemic marginalisation and racialisation of Muslim communities through state policies, public attitudes, and institutional practices. One striking insight is how Muslim voters were framed as a sectarian force due to their opposition to Labour's stance on Gaza. The media portrayed their political engagement as a "sectarian insurgency" — simply for standing up for children killed in conflict and calling for an end to war. Pro-Palestinian demonstrations, often labelled "hate marches," exemplify how Muslim civic agency is stigmatised. The report critiques the unequal treatment of Muslim-led initiatives compared to mainstream political organising, which is normalised despite similar coordination. The report also highlights how programmes like "Prevent" and counterterrorism measures disproportionately target Muslim activism, fostering alienation rather than addressing extremism. Policies such as banning prayer spaces in schools and public denunciations of Islamic expressions further illustrate a discomfort with Muslim visibility in public life. Islamophobic attacks have surged dramatically, particularly against women, who face compounded vulnerabilities. These examples underscore the urgent need to address Islamophobia as a systemic and structural issue embedded in UK society.

Salma Hamamy and Zainab Hakim, two Palestinian American students from the University of Michigan, were protesting the genocide in Gaza and the complicity of the U.S. in arming and supporting this horror. I am a Democrat. I support Harris-Walz. But my allegiance will always always always be first to people who are suffering and harmed over my party, my country, or anything else. And if my country is causing it, I will use whatever tools I have at my disposal (which may not be much) to speak out, as did Salma and Zainab in Michigan. Over 14,000 infants and children killed. Hospitals, schools, and apartment buildings bombed to rubble. Displacement and starvation of millions. This terror enabled by U.S. diplomacy and weaponry. Palestinians are being destroyed in front of the world every day--and we go on with our lives like everything is normal. How is this possible? How? When will our empathy and compassion inspire us more than money, power, or strategic advantage?

We Americans need to do better to show respect and tolerance for one another, regardless of religion or creed. Anti-semitism and islamophobia are both entirely unacceptable. Addressing the need for a cease-fire, as well as to provide adequate food and shelter to Palestinians is one issue, but going down a rabbit hole in support of terrorist organizations is another and is beyond the limits of our society. #Columbia #protests #unacceptable #antisemitism https://lnkd.in/dc5kQ3tt

Britain fails to grasp the difference between protecting freedom of speech & facilitating intimidation. If the Jews weren’t present, there wouldn’t be any threats against them. So the Jews are hustled away & arrested if they object. Britain & other western countries do the same to Israel itself. They tell Israel that its activities provoke resistance. They tell it that it antagonises a large group of people in the region merely by being openly Zionist. The fact that Israel is targeted for extermination is waved aside as untrue or irrelevant. If only it wasn’t “occupying” the disputed territories, if only it wasn’t refusing a Palestine state, if only it wasn’t waging war in Gaza, goes the charge, the violence would stop. The Palestinians threaten permanent & violent mayhem against Israel, while their Arab & Iranian puppeteers demonstrate they will attack any country that backs it. Britain & the west target Israel for punishment over the absence of a Palestine state, which the Palestinians have been offered multiple times but refused. The failure to protect Jews from the hate marches has arisen from a failure to acknowledge Islamist extremism in Britain, the significance of antisemitism as a marker of cultural collapse & the genocidal reality of the Palestinian cause.

Some perspective needed here. Resistance groups like Hamas and Hezbollah didn’t emerge from nowhere. They were formed after decades of mass atrocities and illegal occupation by Israeli forces. They are the product of the failure of the international community to enforce Israel’s compliance with international law, UN resolutions and the terms of the rules-based international order. The label ‘terrorist’ has been ascribed to Hamas and Hezbollah and their leaders. What term then describes the government of Israel that has defied international law, UN resolutions and the terms of the rules-based international order with impunity for decades? What term for a state committing genocide? What term for a military’s wanton destruction of homes, hospitals, water supplies, schools, universities, mosques and churches? What term for political leaders that preside over record-breaking, industrial-scale killing of medical personnel, aid workers, journalists, teachers, students, men, women and children? People are mourning the death of someone they see as leading a resistance against unlawful aggression. They condemn terrorism as it should be condemned whether by a group or a state. Executive Council of Australian Jewry co-chief executive Alex Ryvchin called the vigils “deeply disturbing”. What then should we call it when people condone, excuse or support those conducting genocide? Let’s also remember that western leaders, US and UK, continued to call Nelson Mandela a terrorist for his resistance against apartheid in South Africa. The US didn’t remove Nelson Mandela from its terrorist watch list until 2008. Such labels are arbitrary, ideological and political. Study the history and context of these matters and you’ll find western governments tend to be perpetrators of injustice and end up on the wrong side of history. Western colonial-settler states were wrong in their commission of genocide against Indigenous populations, wrong to enslave people, wrong to support apartheid, wrong to bomb, invade and occupy other countries. As a Māori, I feel ashamed of these statistics: “Almost all of the perpetrators of antisemitic hate crimes in NZ were either Māori (49%) or European (46%)”. That is a disproportionate number of Māori perpetrators of hate. We are better than this! But… it’s not surprising, when Te Pāti Māori, Green Party and Māori Media have pursued a relentless anti-Israel propaganda campaign, propagating lie after lie after lie. A few basic facts: - Genocide? Hamas perpetrated a genocide on 7 October, raping, beheading, burning alive, butchering, murdering and kidnapping innocent civilians - Hamas vowed to repeat it over and over again and states in its charter its intention to destroy the Jewish state - Israel is fighting a war it didn’t want and didn’t start, against a terrorist regime that hides behind civilians - Hamas celebrates death and martyrdom and deliberately puts its people in harm’s way, while Israel does everything it can to avoid civilian casualties - The combatant to civilian casualty rate in Gaza is the lowest in recorded urban warfare - Israel supplies trucks of humanitarian aid daily, but Hamas steals it and prevents it from being distributed - The war in Gaza could stop today, if the 100 hostages were released and Hamas laid down it weapons - The Palestinians could have a state if they were willing to live in peace and accept Jewish presence in the region To our Māori whanau: Go to Israel and you’ll find out the truth. Jews are not foreign white colonisers. Apart from the fact most Israelis are brown like us, because they’re Middle Eastern, they are indigenous and have had a continuous presence in the land for over 3500 years. Arabs have equal rights in Israel, there is no apartheid and Arab women enjoy freedoms that they don’t have in any other Middle Eastern country. Stop judging and condemning from afar, a people and a country you have not visited and conditions you have never experienced How would Māori react if a terrorist organisation sat on its doorstep, tried to wipe out your iwi, celebrated the barbarity, refused to release innocent hostages and vowed to repeat every atrocity?
