As week 2 of the fellowship finishes up, I had the pleasure of attending the Pathways to Tech event hosted by Headstarter. The event featured some incredible speakers who shared their valuable experiences and insights into the world of SWE and entrepreneurship, including Dennis Crowley (Founder of Foursquare), Tariq Ahmed (First Engineer at AppLovin), Julian Alvarez 🚀 (CEO of Wisdolia), and Hamza Ali(CEO of Olostep). One important key takeaway that was shared by both Tariq and Julian is "Failure is a teacher" and "You have to have a level of maturity to stare failure right in the eyes and take that golden opportunity to make more of the learning". This resonated with me as I navigate my own journey in software engineering. Embracing failure as a learning opportunity is crucial for growth and development. It’s a reminder that setbacks are not the end but a part of the process, and having the maturity to learn from them can lead to significant personal and professional growth. Julian Alvarez also highlighted the danger of getting too attached to ideas without validation. Instead, he advised focusing optimism on the team’s ability to overcome challenges. This is a powerful reminder to be flexible and open to change. Overall, the event served as a reminder that growth and success in the tech industry are not just about technical skills, but also about resilience, adaptability, and continuous learning from failures. It reinforced the importance of being open to new experiences, collaborating effectively with others, and staying committed to personal and professional development. Thank you so much to Headstarter, Yasin Ehsan 🚀, and Faizan Ahmed for organizing an amazing event and thank you to all the panelists for sharing their incredible wisdom and experiences. 😁 #PathwaysToTech #SWE #Entrepreneurship #LearningFromFailure #CareerGrowth #Headstarter #Innovation

𝗧𝗲𝗰𝗵/𝗗𝗲𝘃 𝗩𝗲𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗮𝗻𝘀: 𝗔𝗿𝗲 𝗬𝗼𝘂 𝗬𝗲𝗮𝗿𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗠𝗼𝗿𝗲 𝗧𝗵𝗮𝗻 𝗝𝘂𝘀𝘁 𝗔𝗻𝗼𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗿 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗷𝗲𝗰𝘁? I've been mulling over something lately, and I'm curious if any of you can relate. After years in tech, climbing the ladder from hands-on development to leadership roles, I've noticed a pattern. Many of us find ourselves doing less of what initially drew us to this field – building and creating. Sure, we've got our side projects. They're fun, challenging, and remind us why we fell in love with coding in the first place. But sometimes, don't you wish you could take that passion project and turn it into something more? Here's where my thoughts have been leading me: What if there was a way to bridge the gap between experienced tech professionals and founders with validated ideas? Imagine this scenario: - You've got the technical expertise and leadership experience - A founder has a solid concept, maybe even an MVP - Together, you could build something genuinely exciting and potentially game-changing I'm wondering: How many of you have entertained similar thoughts? - Have you ever considered transitioning from a tech lead to a co-founder role? - What's holding you back? The right idea? The right partner? - Or perhaps you've already made this leap? What was your experience? I have a hunch that there's a pool of untapped potential out there – seasoned tech professionals who are ready for a new challenge but haven't found the right opportunity. So, I'm putting this out there to our community: Let's start a conversation. If you've ever daydreamed about building your own product, or if you know someone who fits this description, I'd love to hear your thoughts. Maybe we can uncover some insights, or who knows, even spark some new partnerships. Share your experiences, aspirations, or concerns in the comments. Let's see where this leads us. #TechCareers #StartupLife #SoftwareDevelopment #EntrepreneurshipJourney #TechInnovation

Gatherow went live for the first time! This moment marks the beginning of something truly special considering the gaps we scrutinized over the past year. Gatherow is where professionals, innovators, and changemakers come together to grow, share insights, and create meaningful impact with an emphasis on experiential learning. Our first event brought together an incredible community of 100+ talented individuals, all eager to connect, learn, and collaborate. This is just the start of a platform that aims to deepen relationships and open doors to new opportunities. Gatherow isn’t just an event series—it’s a movement. We’re building a space where ideas are shared, partnerships are formed, and growth becomes a collective journey. If you’re passionate about collaboration and creating impact, join us on this journey. We’re looking forward to connecting with professionals, accelerators, incubators, and tech companies who want to be part of this thriving ecosystem. Let’s gather, let’s grow. -------- A special thanks to the Startuptive Toronto that provided a suitable place for our event. Also, all volunteers, sponsors, and our great event management team that made this strong start happen.
