After reading Tiffanie Darke post 'How Many Clothes Do You Own'. 211 as it turns out - this suits me and my lifestyle very well. It is different for everyone. Inspired by this, I decided to write a blog post about the 80/20 Pareto Principle, exploring why many people only wear 20% of their wardrobe and sharing tips on how to utilise more of it. In my experience as a stylist, I’ve noticed that the 20% frequently worn often stems from practical considerations rather than psychological factors. Here’s a brief overview of my suggestions: Audit Your Wardrobe: Take stock of what you actually own. Consider Weight Fluctuations: Store a couple of fit critical items, like jeans, trousers in a different sizes to accommodate changes. Identify Gaps: After auditing, pinpoint what you need and shop with purpose. Not for impulse shiny items or shiny discounts. Rotate Your Wardrobe: We tend to reach for the same items because they’re the most accessible. Move less-worn pieces to the front to give them a chance to shine. Aim for Versatility: Each item in your wardrobe should ideally pair with at least three other pieces. Knowing what you own and how to wear it, can alleviate waste and those stressful 'what to wear' mornings. What if I told you that.. You need to know your body type to be able to pick out outfits that will flatter your body and give you perfect fit and confidence. Here are 5 basic body types you need to know; • Apple body shape • Pear body shape • Hour glass body shape • Triangular body shape • Rectangle body shape. Know your body type; It's safe to know what category you belong to and also know the kind of outfits to go for, although some individual can have 2 body types especially on the upper and lower body regions(I will throw more light on this later) How to know your body type; Draw a minature/cross line, Get a type and measure your shoulders, mid section (a little above your navel) and your hip area, note the numbers and identify where has the highest number, mark the points and sketch along those points to see what shape you got using the above guide. How is it that you walk into one room where people are in t-shirts and pajamas, and your first instinct is to keep things casual? Meanwhile, you enter another room where everyone is dressed professionally; even though it’s the same people, your tone becomes professional. This is where the concept of power dressing comes in—it makes you appear confident and up-to-date. Does it matter? Yes, it does, especially when making a first impression.   But is it all about that? Not at all. Power dressing also builds inner confidence. It allows your outer confidence to shine because, let’s face it, people are judgmental.
