Calgary job market Pt.1 My first post on LinkedIn I want to dedicate to the Canadian job market. As a newcomer, I am exrtemely interested in the working environment in my area. And since I am an analyst, it was my duty to analyze data on vacancies in my professional field. Spoiler alert: there were some news for me, and some facts I expected to get. But let's start with the data. Data used: Platform: LinkedIn. Location: Calgary, Alberta, Canada. Date of job posting: last month. Job titles searched for: Data Analyst, BI Analyst, Business Intelligence Analyst, Business Analyst, Product Analyst. Total number of analyzed vacancies: 231 Relevant vacancies selected for detailed analysis: 24 As far as we can see, I had to throw away a lot of data because LinkedIn job search provided me with a lot of irrelevant job posts, epecially with the "Product analyst" prompt. The data I used may be considered unrepresentative, but it did the job of getting general knowledge of Calgary job market on LinkedIn platform. Let's dive into it and see what we can find. Qualitative conclusions based on the analysis: 1. Vacancies with standartized job titles (Data Scientist, Data Analyst, Business Analyst etc.) receive way more responses than those with specific job titles yet similar functions (Pricing specialist, Sales data advisor etc.). 2. The key focus in job posts is on knowledge and experience in a particular business domain, rather than on the technologies. 3. There are vacancies where the job title does not match the actual responsibilities: for example, a Business Analyst may be offered to do data analysis.
